I can confirm the shark fin was moved back post-Feb 17th. Mine was built Feb 19th.

They changed the frickin BODY instead of a new roof rack design? I work in vehicle manufacturing and have a good idea what was involved to do this. Knowing Toyota, they had a good way to do it, but damn that's funny.

I'll take a picture of mine when I get home - mine was built on the 17th in San Antonio. I wonder if the change was made at both plants at the same time?

Right? So now they've got a large pool of 2020 customers, every vehicle from the model year manufactured before 2/17/20 in fact, that cannot install the factory rack. Idiots. My question is, why did they relocate the shark fin in the first place? There HAD to be a reason. My guess is that it was some attempt to mitigate the leaking third brake light problem, but who knows. If that is indeed the case, why did they move it BACK? Makes no sense at all.

My January 17th build definitely has the old antenna placement - much farther forward than the post-17th builds.

I called Toyota and opened a case. They were not helpful at all and I finally talked to a supervisor and asked that the case be escalated. She assured me it would go to the correct people for review. They tried to play the card that I had installed the accessory myself so they were not going to help. I stated no, this is a toyota factory accessory that does not work and it has a 1 year warranty. My dealer is looking into it also and they will work with me. Personally I installed the rack for looks and not for functionality, so I will just leave it for now and hope for a solution. I hope there are Toyota engineers that check these forums an report back to Toyota.

Is it noisy? I spend a lot of time on the freeway. That’s why I loved the idea of the factory bars that fold away.

Haven't taken it above 45 with the shelter in place. I could see it getting noisy at speed. The said, I spent 80% of my time on rural mountain roads while blaring music so that was not my biggest concern. Totally agree that the retracting OEM ones were a huge draw. This is overkill for Snowboards and Kayaks.

Took it out for the first time today. Yes. At 60 it's noticeable in between songs and at 70 I found myself turning up the music a bit. Wasn't sure where the wind was coming from but it was a low drone. Nothing high pitched and whiny.

The decible meter on my watch didn't notice a difference, but I did. I'm going to tell myself it's a rumble from the exhaust.

I'm pretty constantly blaring jams but if you do expressway speeds and aren't into 80decible ABBA, I can see the Prinsu being an auditory hassle. For my use case, it's great. (Test fit the Thule Kayak + Snowboard racks today. excited for quarantine to drop)

Also of note is that there is a resonant *thub* when the sunroof is open, similar to having a single window down. Opening any other window, including the rear, fixes the issue.

So I installed the factory rack today on my 2020 that was purchased back in December. I figured that worse case scenario I could modify the antenna as I have seen others cut them and backfill with epoxy. Or there is Meso’s shorty antenna.

To my surprise, the rear crossbar does lock into place on my truck. It is slightly touching the antenna, but not so excessively it renders it useless. The crossbar is not bowing excessively either.

Is this the case with everyone? Obviously I would rather it make no contact with the antenna at all, but from the threads I have read, under no circumstances expected it to lock into place rather easily without much strain on the antenna.

Just ordered the Prinsu. Can’t wait for it to come in. Would rather have saved a couple hundred to go OEM.

Yea, it pushed it down roughly 1/4" - 1/2" but the crossbar will lock in place and push down on the shark fin.
