    All vehicles speedometers show a faster speed than actual, so I am happy to be closer to accurate actual speed. Our other vehicle is off by 5% and the dealer acknowledges it. I asked if it could be corrected or was an incorrect tire size applied and they gave me a copy from a printed stack on the service counter stating it is normal practice.

    That's not what I am saying at all... what my point was is this.. you started out with 16 inch rims and jumped to 17 inch rims. By reducing the sidewall height if the tire, you get nearly identical results vs being off... The truck looks good and it's your money so you do as you choose

    Considering a similar setup - any rubbing?

    None experienced with stock "off road" suspension and LT265/70/R17 (+3% Tire) BFG KO2 load range C Tire pressure set for 30 psi cold and seeing 34 psi when hot. Still have front and rear factory mud flaps on. Over 11,000 km with new wheel setup on with one rotation after 7,500 km. Very happy with the setup. Price is still good at Wheelsco.ca Free shipping in Canada.

    Am new to this forum and I got a 2021 Lunar Rock TRD Pro earlier this year (very happy with it) and now looking to add wheels and A/T tires and confounded by size/offset options, potential rubbing, etc.etc. Have done a ton of research so far and do feel a bit closer but oscillating on whether to stay with existing 31" full wheel and tire diameter or go to 32" with, for instance, your same wheels and 265/70/17 tires (I would either go with KO2s or Falken Wildpeaks.) My 16"x 7" Pro wheels are nearly identical in appearance to these 17" ones you have and I do love the look and would love another set (dealership wants C$492.25 per TRD Pro wheel) so that's not happening. I'm not unhappy with the stock Goodyear Wranglers and for highway driving so far they have been fine so I plan to get the use out of them...just want the capability of the A/T all weather solution. These TRD-like wheels you have from WheelsCo are a great candidate. You have reported no rubbing with stock suspension setup and mud flaps. Still the case? Big part of why I went with the PRO is that I will keep the suspension stock. Have quite a few longer trips planned and with rooftop tent too which I have but the wheel/tire size issue seems not easily resolved.

    Welcome to the forums! Plenty of good information here. This is my first truck and I am happy with the Tacoma. Note that you first oil change is at 16,000 km.

    Since you have a PRO you are lifted an inch more than my off road. The 1 inch taller tires only affect the height by .5 of an inch so I would not be concerned with rubbing on the front mud flaps.

    The 17" rims allowed me to use C load KO2 tires which are lighter than E load. Your 16" wheels would support the following winter tires...

    Good Year Wrangler Adv/Kevlar 265/70R16 112T SL 35 Lbs (Stock) SL= 2469 Lbs

    BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO2 LT265/70R16 121S E 51.5 Lbs (Stock) E= 3195 Lbs
    BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO2 LT265/75R16 123R E 53.97 Lbs (+3.4%) E= 3415 Lbs

    Falken Wildpeak AT3W 265/70R16 112T SL 42.3 Lbs (Stock)
    Falken Wildpeak AT3W 265/75R16 116T SL 43.9 Lbs (+3.4%)
    Falken Wildpeak AT3W LT265/75R16 123S E 52.5 Lbs (+3.4%)

    The 17" options for your two brands of choice...

    BF Goodrich AT KO2 LT265/65R17 120S E 50.4 Lbs (Stock) E= 3085 Lbs
    BF Goodrich AT KO2 LT265/70R17 112S C 45,5 Lbs (+3.3%) C= 2470 Lbs
    BF Goodrich AT KO2 LT265/70R17 123R E 53.37 Lbs (+3.3%) E= 3195 Lbs

    Falken Wild Peak AT3W 265/65R17 116T XL 42.3 Lbs (Stock) XL= 2756 LbS
    Falken Wild Peak AT3W 265/70R17 115T SL 46.5 Lbs (+3.3%) SL= 2679 Lbs
    Falken Wild Peak AT3W LT265/70R17 121S E 52.9 Lbs (+3.3%) E= 2756 Lbs

    SL = 4 Ply
    XL = 4 Ply
    C = 6 Ply
    D = 8 Ply
    E = 10 Ply

    R = 106 mph
    S = 112 mph
    T = 118 mph

    If you were to go to a 285 tire at 33 inches tall they get heavier and you need a bigger lift and cab modification. Will also reduce your fuel economy.

    BF Goodrich AT KO2 LT285/75R16 126R E 58.69 Lbs (+7.3%)
    BF Goodrich AT KO2 LT285/70R17 116Q C 51.37 Lbs (+6.9%)
    BF Goodrich AT KO2 LT285/70R17 121R E 57.87 Lbs (+6.9%)

    Falken Wild peak AT3W LT285/75R16 126R E 60.6 Lbs (+7.3%)
    Falken Wild Peak AT3W LT285/70R17 116Q C 63.7 Lbs (+6.9%)
    Falken Wild Peak AT3W LT285/70R17 121S E 58.9 Lbs (+6.9%)

    Completed the wheel and tire installation yesterday. The 17” OEP wheels from WheelsCo are excellent and I doubt a casual spectator would think they weren’t original TRD wheels. Quick shipment and then local install of the 265/70/17 Falken Wild Peak AT3W 115T. They even cloned the new TPMS too. Stock lug nuts also work which saved a few more $$. Wheels and tires look and feel great. Thanks for the inspiration.

    Awesome wheels! Did you get a 17 inch wheel and tire for the spare? I did and will be using the 17's all year round with the KO2s.

    Looking great! The wheel weight doesn’t seem too bad either!

    I did get the fifth wheel and tire too because the originals are, of course, 16". While I'd like to get some more use out of the Goodyear Wranglers, I similarly expect that these Falkens on the 17" wheels will see far more time on the truck through the year. Longer term, I think I would plan to put a dedicated winter tire on the original 16" rims. Have the first long trip on the new wheels coming up this weekend so should be a good test. I have a friend with a Voodoo Blue Off Road just like yours who has the same rim/tire combo set for installation imminently. The pics of your rig have spurred him on.

    The stock 16" TRD wheel and Goodyear Wrangler 265/70/16 weigh in at 61 lbs. The OEP 17" wheel and Falken Wild Peak AT3W 265/70/17 weigh in at 68.5 lbs. Not bad at all. I think I can live with carrying another 37.5 lbs.

    I an patiently waiting on my new wheels.

    92748.png
    ART Replica 237's. Ordered from wheelwiz.ca and the wheels are Canadian made. I should have them by the end of the month. I plan on putting Toyo Open Country AT III's on them. Just deciding of I go stock sized (265/65R17) or step up to the 265/70R17's. I ordered then in July when they were on sale but backorder.. $167 a wheel.

    17x8, with +5 offset.

    @bigtrout , sorry... a little delayed but here are some numbers...20220321_073541.jpg 20220321_073357.jpg

    Sorry... I only had crayon when I was drawing out the lines:anonymous:

    Now if we could convince someone with factory TRD Pro wheels, in this style to measure their centre cap...

    Edit: added a photo of rear side of cap for reference as well.
