Someone tried to steal my tailgate recently and cut the connector before realizing that the tailgate was locked. Replacing the connector now and was wondering if anyone could clarify what each wire on the gray connector of the 2016+ Tacoma are for?

Looking at the loom, I see a black, red, and white cable as well as the shield. I don't see a blue cable on mine which is me throwing off a bit and couldn't find anything else online. Any help with this would be appreciated.

I can confirm that my 2021 has the BN2 connector (8 cavities, of which only 4 are used).

According to the Owner's Manual, I was supposed to get a set of protective plugs for when the harness is disconnected, when removing the tailgate. I didn't get these. So, instead of going back to the dealer (which is inconvenient), I went on ebay and bought a set.

Now, thanks to Caribe's post, I see that the plugs I bought on ebay are the BN1 type (4 cavities). Oops. Back to ebay for another try.

Should be 5 used. (If no Panoramic Cameras are installed)

There are only 4 wires coming out of the connector toward the camera (green, black, red, and white). I couldn't see what was coming out the other side of the connector, because it was wrapped in tape and I didn't want to unwrap it.

Is the truck side of the harness pre-wired for the panoramic system? (I could understand excess wires just ending at that connector.)

BTW, thanks for the reference to Cycle Terminal. I've already ordered the connectors from him.

If there are no terminals in the connector, I don't see why there would be the wires to it. Only way to find out in your vehicle is to remove the tape.
This is what I got from a pic request.

That picture is exactly what I saw on mine. The green wire is directly behind the black one. There are no other wires coming out the right side (as we see it in the picture).

This a close-up from same vehicle. Shows 5 wires and wiring is similar to the Panoramic set up without the wires to the CAN-BUS. (4 & 8)

I'll have to crawl under the truck again tomorrow. I didn't see the blue wire the first time, but it's possible it was wedged in back there.

ETA: The blue wire is there. I needed a mirror to see it, since I didn't want to unplug the harness.
