Let me guess, you or someone you know has a air-fuel ratio imbalance code on one of the cylinders? Starts with P11?

What are your plans for the truck? Repair, trade, leave it in neutral at the boat ramp?

Aaaaaand another one. Sorry to see that OP. Happens more often than people would like to admit. Won't catch me in a 3.5 Tacoma ever again. Now a 3.4 or 4.0 yes!

    So. Many. Stickers.
I mean, given that there are roughly 2 million third gens on the road... The failure rate while annoying is still really low

Why aren’t we hearing about the 2.7 3rd gen’s though? That’s what bothers me. If the 3.5 truly is only being heard because it’s in such large numbers, then that assumes it’s about the same in reliability as other motors. If that’s the case, then we should be hearing of failures from the others, just in proportionally smaller numbers. Seems like all we ever really hear about is the 3.5.

How many miles on your truck? Seems like most of the failures happen between 30k-70k miles

There's more 2TR-FE 2.7's in circulation worldwide than the 2GR-FKS since they are used in more models globally in more markets than the 3.5 and have been around for 10 more years. So your argument doesn't hold up at all.

The problem with it is you never know if it’s going to poke its head up and it just could be the luck of the draw.
