My brand new 1992 Toyota Truck with the 3.0 had head gasket failure twice. Once in warranty and once out of warranty. Dealership and Toyota fixed it both times at no charge to me. There were no forums back then to vent to. Due to the way Toyota supported me back then, I became a loyal Toyota customer. I went on to enjoy that truck for 14 years. Just basic maintenance required. Many fond memories and adventures with that truck. It never left me stranded in all those years. Even had the original clutch when I sold it because I could not fit a car seat in the extra-cab part.

So, I think any issues that pop-up with Toyota trucks or Toyota's in general, get a lot of heavy attention due to their reputation for QDR.

"QDR stands for Quality, Durability, and Reliability, which is a key feature built into every Toyota vehicle. Toyota emphasizes QDR as a fundamental aspect of their brand promise, ensuring customers have peace of mind and satisfaction with their vehicles. This commitment to QDR is reflected in Toyota's reputation for producing reliable cars that last long".

When things go bad, a lot of folks are extremely disappointed as this is not suppose to happen to Toyotas.

With any mass produced vehicle, shit happens.

I also feel like the majority of people who find their way to these forums have come here because they had a problem with their truck and they post about it looking for a fix or whatever.
All of these similar posts can certainly skew perspectives as these forums can be a filter to what we perceive as a reality. Of course there are issues with the 3.5 but is it really bad for everyone who owns a 3rd Gen, or is it just that bad for those having the bad experience?
