2022 sr5 came with red accent stitching

Hey Guys, I finally got a notice that my black 2022 SR5 had arrived. The exterior of the truck is beautiful but, when i look inside the interior there is this RED accent on the dashboard and the door jams. The salesman said he was just as surprised as I was. It also has red stitching on the seats that doesn't look bad. However, the red on the dashboard and the door jams has to go. I have been doing some research on how to paint or cover it. I was reading about Durabak paint and bought a quart. Has anyone ever used this paint before on the interior?

Mine has the Black interior with the Red accents....I kinda like it. Gives a little more flare then just the gray interior i feel

 

On my quicksand sr5 i found the burn't orange color w/ black on the interior similar to the ops red interior w/black scheme well received. Red, and black interior usually goes well with a black exterior. I'd have to see the op's truck.

 

You could easily trade with another Tacoma owner.

 

Where is the stitching on the dash? Any pics? If you really hate it. I have seen several YouTube videos of people dying stitching.

 

Yep. Parts swap is the cleanest choice.

The whole 'knight rider' blackout fad is starting to get long in the tooth, so finding someone interested in updating might not be too hard

It might be inferno? I do think I've seen some come red on the interior door panels though... been a while though

 

It's easy to buy or trade dash bezels. Those pieces pop out without any tools. Last time I priced them they were 100-150 for a set on parts.Toyota.com. Again, the red bezels are in high demand, so it's easier to find a local that wants to swap.

Door cards are a little more difficult. Some people have had success with upholstering over the red part, some have done vinyl, others swapped the entire door panels.

I don't recommend paint. It will eventually abrade and wear thin, then it will look like shit for the rest of the trucks life.


Me, I did the opposite. I had a black interior and injected red.

 

Sounds like it's not what you ordered... let the dealer take care of it.

 

My 2019 TRD OR also came with the Inferno dash bezel and corresponding inferno seat stitching. I was not sure about it at first too, but it definitely grew on me. I think it gives the interior a cool look and I get many compliments. I added some inferno dash lettering inserts for the "Tacoma" on the glove box door to complete the look.

 

I wish I could trade with ya! I love the way the red interior accents look. That sucks the truck arrived with something you didn’t want though.

 

I'd hold off on slopping paint around on your new truck. Maybe wait and see if it grows on you or buy some new parts and sell what you have here.

As @Rock Lobster said.. the dash stuff is easy if you buy the correct black bezels or just wait and find someone to trade.

Attempting to paint it is going to look like dogshait.

I'd fight it. I'm with you, those red accents are tacky as hell. Looks like some shit a teenager would do to his hand-me-down Civic shitbox.

 

I could see swapping out the bezels around the vents, but I think the rest of it is really nice looking.

 

That pai t will never hold up. That shit is for used car deals. Junk.

 

I'd like to see it before. I think in a time when damn near every interior is a sea of black or gray plastic some color is a nice change. But I hafta see it.
