Was just screwing around online, looking at some vendor sites. Noticed BAMF was having a sale. Looked at their hybrid front bumper. Compared it to C4's (who I had decided on). They look almost identical. $400 off because of sale, powder coating for me to ruin, and the bumper was $800 less than C4. Not sure what shipping will run, but I'm pretty sure I'll still be saving money. It's ordered. Not sure what their lead times are like, but I'm not in a rush. I still need to get a winch before it gets here, and I install it.

And here I thought the new car would distract me from the 4runner. This screwing around started with looking at cat-back exhaust for it.

Nothing better than having one rabbit hole lead to another in record time.

    Still alive. Somewhat kicking.

New car distracted me a little, but I'm at a decent point with it for the time being. More later.

I'm still waiting on the front bumper for the Runner. I expect it to be a little bit before it starts heading this way. I've been collecting the tertiary parts and pieces for the install in the meantime. Lightbar, OEM fog light replacements (fortunately I already had these from another project), winch wiring stuff (Andersen plug, 12v cut-off, 12v cut-off mount) and windshield washer reservoir relocation. I will be complaining about the price of that shortly. Expedition One is the worst on pricing. I didn't want to get it, but they were the only ones who sold a solution that placed the tank where I wanted and kept capacity. Also bought a small motorcycle jack for one-man bumper install duties. I'll order the winch when the bumper is on its way.

I also gave up on steel wheels. I caved and got a set of BFG K03s. I was having bad wobble after getting them mounted. Had them Road Force balanced, and although it vastly improved it, I was still getting enough to irritate me. Bought a set of wheels on closeout. They were supposed to be here last Friday. They didn't make it. I'm hoping this Friday will be the day. I also hope that it's the wobble-solution I'm looking for.

Pics forthcoming post-install. Incoherent babbling complete.

DX4 is the brand. I've never heard of them. Probably owned by one of the bigger peeps.

    And thanks. Where ya been?

Installed this today in future prep for winch and bumper. Had to relocate one of the horns to make room. No big deal. I'm pleased with how it turned out.

Installed a Trigger Six Shooter switch deal. It's not bad for the money. I like that no wires have to run into the cab. Controller is wireless and stuff. Not thrilled, but I didn't spend a billion dollars on one of the bigger names.

Out of boredom, slapped some ditch lights on. The lights are the Harbor Freight brand. Hopefully they're what everyone is making them out to be.

Also, put the scoop sun-killer decal on. I thought a lighter colored truck would keep that from happening. Nope. It got me good a few times. Literally blinded. Ordered a black insert for the front part. For the MOPAR look.

Still waiting on the front bumper. I'm ready for it. Winch and everything else is sitting in the garage. I'm hoping by the end of the month.

Ordered a roof rack, too. I want someplace to get some crap out of the cab. Went with RCI.

Roof rack shows up today. Maybe I can get it on this weekend. I broke down and bought a new headunit for the 4runner, so I'd like to get that in first. The headunit was not in the plans, and I had really tried to stick with OEM, but I finally reached the limit of my patience for it. It involved trying to relocate the rear camera in preparation for a rear bumper. Why Toyota insists on a 6v camera is beyond me.

In case you're keeping count: BAMF front bumper ordered on 20 May 2024; went to production floor on 01 June 2024; 12-16 week lead time claimed on web site; email sent asking for update last week; still no reply; we are on week 26 since order was made; week 24 since moving to production.

I’ve been driving a new 4R as a loaner while my Tundra awaits a new engine. The head unit (which is the same one in my 20 Tacoma) is unimpressive.

You're telling me. I just got the new one in and finished a few minutes ago. I have bells and whistles.

Can’t wait to see it, maybe I’ll put one in the loaner.

Have they given you any kind of time frame on the Tundra?

In that case we must take the loaner wheeling.

My goal is to accumulate as many pinstripes as possible in the intervening months.
