Since there has been no news related to the new Tundra, I thought I'd share this article which features a rendering of what the redesign could possibly look like. Obviously this article is entirely speculation and rumor, but curious to see opinions.

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/new...review-evolutionary-design-update/ar-BB19WwVA

My opinion is: I don't think I'll be getting rid of my Tacoma any time soon.

I had heard that rumor before they delayed the new Tundra, but didn't realize it possibly meant discontinuing the V8 all together.

I doubt it looks anything like that weird hilux/ridegline/current tundra rendering. Toyota actually does a good job with design (as evidenced by 4runner and Tacoma sales) of their North American trucks/SUVs.

The base engine will be a strengthened version of the TT 2GR found in the Lexus LS500. That engine lays down 443 ft lbs of torque at 1600 rpm. Expect the Tundra's version to top that.

The optional powertrain will include a hybrid booster for additional torque. The number I'm hearing is north of 600 lbs ft.

    And yes....the I-Force 8s will be gone.

Interesting comment in the article add on mentions Toyta cutting prices in 2021. It appears a little competition is good for the consumer.

Interesting ... so grab a V8 and let the new model work out the kinks for a few years or jump on the new tech full throttle ??

Indeed. Toyota, while polarizing to some, have hands down the best looking trucks !!

I don't know. The bones of the TT 2GR are not new. The LS500 has used that mill for about 3 years now. But there's a lot more to a vehicle than just the engine.

I know Toyota has put a shit ton of R&D into it. Guess we'll see.

In case you didn't read the article, it stated it was someone's rendering and rumors. Nothing official.

I certainly hope so. I like the 3rd Gen Taco design, but couldn't stand the 2nd gen or any of the Tundra designs. Although I'll take the current one over the prior ones.

    Gotta say the
Anytime I see “Atkinson Cycle” engine references, I have my doubts. Especially after spending a year behind the taco’s 3.5L. Seems like they’re replacing an engine with a predictable 500K-mile lifespan with a potentially less-durable model. Kinda like Toyota did with the gen 3 tacos.

Only thing I can tell from this video is Toyota continuing to fit small tires on its trucks

Yup, no surprise there though. 33”s are the standard for full size trucks. If I like this new Tundra, I plan to buy one and throw 37’s on it immediately.
