First impression is it's not for me. I'd have to see it in person and drive it, but I'd prefer the TRX or Raptor. :anonymous:

Mmm kinda not for me either..idk I think the headlights are look a little like other trucks and I am NOT feeling that front look. I think they should have the option to colormatch the black part of the bumper. Feel like they shouldve built a little on the 3rd gen though..iForce Max looks like a beast though

Yes, like, they have wheels. And a windshield. Can't forget the headlights. Pretty much stole everything.

    It's a lexus v6, not a 2GR. Derived from the LS model. V35A-FTS

This dates back to the original tundra getting a 4.7 based on the ls400 engine.

The deciding factor for many will be what mpg’s it is able to achieve… I’m very curious to see those numbers once they become available. Overall I like it. I’m not in love with the tailgate and tail lights. But I will say that white TRD Pro would be my choice so far!

Does anyone know if its only part time 4x4? I was really hoping the limited+ trim would be full time 4x4. No one mentions it yet.

Would love the exterior of the Chevy, interior of the Ram, standard options as a Ford, and reliability of a Toyota. Boom! Perfect truck!

    There is no 4 cylinder.

A LOT of Land Cruiser 200 and prospective Land Cruiser 300 overseas are pissed at the amount of feature content, being offered on this truck.

Funny how Toyota has worked their ass off to hold onto the date they switched to back in 2019, as before that it was October 2020 projection from 2016 to early 2019. I saw on a chart that first deliveries were gonna now be January 2022. If they do it in December, this is great for them.

Mere coincidence, but I can't really see it.

I am guessing he means this pre-mid cycle version more so, which has been around way longer.

    chevrolet_silverado_custom_z71_trailboss_crew_cab_6.jpg

I honestly don't see it, but people will have their opinions and are entitled to them. Commonalities are bound to exist, in such a conservative segment as pickups. Americans want their brash and bold in your face styling all too often, so certain ideas are bound closely match others' ideas.

Revealed in February 2000, launched October 2000
    toyota_tacoma_limited_double_cab_7.jpg
Design first patented by Toyota on September 22, 1998 for the 2001 Tacoma

(Designed by Toyota in 2001, revealed in early 2003, launched December 2003)

Launched October 18, 2004 (Body design finished in Late 2001)

(Designed until 2003-2004, launched January 2007)

This is what GM had, with no character lines nor C Pillar kink. (Cab designed until 1997, launched late 2000)

Their redesign in 2006 (designed until October 2003), now there's a slight kink like Toyota's

    What Toyota designed after that

Please, you better keep that truck. And no, I am definitely not joking. I said the same thing to 2019 and earlier Frontier 6MT owners.

Hmmpf:(, better than my dad who put me in a boring autotragic midsize FWD, as my first-first car yonder moons ago. Lucky for me I quickly got out of that one... She'll appreciate it 15 years down the road, if she's abroad and ever gets stuck in a sticky situation and there's no automatic in sight.
    :burnrubber:

Exactly, right. Good statement. Usually when it's just casual observation, there's nothing wrong with it. MY real issue, is when it becomes a game of copycat accusations and that right there is just silly, if not ignorant, as very few people know the timelines and concurrent processes, which would allow for benchmarking another competitor's design. I haven't seen that in here.

My observation is a lot of folks (like I didn't before my BSME), don't really understand how long it takes to develop an automobile and think it's as simple as yesterday = tomorrow or last week vs next week.

Toyota referenced other 2018 models at best, when styling this truck and not really anything newer than that. They were too far along to borrow from anyone else after that. Not to mention, some competitors favored the bold and butch, yet organic look of the 2007 Tundra and benchmarked it, as well as the Tacoma ironically.

Toyota evolving their own cues, hardly warrants accusations in my opinion, outside of the obvious influences like Ford Raptor.

Owning Raptors and being very acquainted with them in deeper capacities, I'd say you're gonna be paying way more for an equivalent Raptor 800A or 801A with every option. Not to mention the TRX absolutely does not compete with the TRD Pro and is an uber high perf. truck compared to this.

Exactly, but I am apparently the evil incarnate for strongly pointing that out a months ago on here, with vivid examples backing up my claims.

No, 2GR is an actual 3.5 liter unlike this engine which is a 3.4L TTV6 and a Toyota Dynamic Force engine. They are retiring 2GR and there's no new NA V6 on deck.

the lexus LS500 has been rocking the v35a-FTS for a few years now. i believe this one is the same motor or a slightly revised motor.

personally i think its an UGLY SOB. BUT i do trust toyotas hybrids.. working at a dealer for 7 years i've seen hybrids survive some pretty insane abuse. The taxi cabs with 300-400k on them that take next to no maintenance is impressive.

If i didnt have my wonderful 05 tundra, i'd be looking into this new one for towing. my 05 cant tow as much and it gets like 10mpg tops when towing.. but damnit it does it well and its MUCH better looking.

Tacomas rebuild date is estimated for 2024 and is rumored and now backed up by this that it will have a hybrid engine.
