I've been watching what's available (and the number of complaints about new trucks) with the idea that I'd buy one in the next year or so. I'll probably get an SR5 2wd xtracab. In February and March there were at least 10 within 250 miles of me according to toyota.com.

By the end of last month there were none. Lots of SR xtracabs, no SR5s. Just an observation. Is anyone else seeing changes in inventory or pricing? My guess is that prices will go up eventually due to tariffs or uncertainty about tariffs.

SR5 XtraCabs are hard to come by. I had to find one on allocation that didn't have a reservation, but I could configure it how I wanted. YMMV

the more they increase their prices the more the crazies buy so you should find something ASAP and get it as the price is going to rise quickly from already incredibly overpriced selling prices.

I'm not in a rush. I could wait until 2026 or even 2027.

Seems like they were everywhere just a couple months ago. Maybe they make them in batches.

low margin = low priority for Toyota. They want to work less and make more money. Its why you don't see any SR's anywhere. They want you buying the high dollar high margin trims so they don't have to sell as many but make the same bottom line dollars...

If you have a trade-in, now is a good time. Used auto prices have climbed, so you might get a better deal now versus one or two years from now.

If no rush then wait about 7 years from now on the last production model year so all the kinks and bugs are worked out by then. Then you can ask about the 5th gen Tacoma inventory a few years later!

they are still everywhere, i bet you were seeing the remaining leftover 2024 inventory. I was just town in Texas, they have a ton of Tacoma and Tundras on the lots, Tundras offering 2.9% financing and up to $10k off a platinum model..Tacoma seems to be about $2-5k depending on the model. For the one you seek i'd think the minimal discount since there is less. You search new dealers and some have 40-50 trucks, some inbound some on the lot.

In the tristate area, within 200 miles i have: 2,818 matches per cars.com for only new trucks, not used or CPO gen 4.

If the customer is only in the market for an Xtra cab, it would make sense to build more SR5s and Prerunners than SRs.

not the ExtraCab - those are harder to locate. There's plenty of 4 door 5' bed options on lots

Toyota.com inventory shows lots of SRs around me but few SR5s with xtracab. I know xtracabs are not as popular as double cabs. Maybe they're trying to limit the xtracabs to the SR.

would you want the SR short cab if they didn't detune the 4th gen with computer code and neuter its towing?

No, I bought the gen2 SR5 xtracab, 6' bed and I'm happy with it. Looking for something similar. I punted on the gen3 because of the poor gas mileage.

best thing to do is to look up inventory and call dealerships to see who has them on allocation, then put a deposit on it.

It's tempting to trade and write a check for the difference, but I'm having a hard time parting with the money. My 3rd gen's only got 69k miles and I've dumped a ton of time and money into it. Insurance and registration are cheap too.
