its definetly possible. On two separate occations I have consistantly gotten 24.9 MPG on a road trip from Baltimore to the Eastern shore of maryland. That is a mostly very flat drive but it was also a 09 4x4 v6 double cab. The first time i did this the truck had around 2000 miles on the odo. The second time it had 10,000 and it didnt change, 24.9 both times.

    24.9 is awesome. I hit 21.5 MPG a few tanks ago on 87 Chevron w/ Techron :D

I averaged 19.6 mpg on my last tank. That was insane, I was expecting worse. Usually I get about 18.0-18.5 for the same driving. 8,800 on the clock. I Do believe towing a trailer for a good long trip is good. Breaks in the motor, trans and DIFF (just don't do it when the truck is brand-new; after 3k). I've never gotten peak MPG's under 10k miles. my Turbo diesel Ford was getting about 19mpg hwy. 2x's the truck buddy. One axle weighed more than this squatty little taco. These Tacos should be doing mid 20's hwy mpg's. Pisses me off how many don't. I haven't really taken mine on a long hwy trip yet.

I just put in my 2nd fill up since I bought my used 4x4DCLB, this is my first Toyota after driving 5.3 GMC. The first tank was 205 miles using 7.3 imperal gallons. The second was 263 miles using 8.9 imperal gallons. I fill my tank up until it stops and keep adding and pulling nozzle out until it stops a few times to get as much in tank or see the gas sitting below cap threads above nozzle lid. The best I got with my 5.3 4x4 was 20 all highway and 16-17 average. My first tank with tacoma was 28 and 2nd 29 and the first tank I said "no way"? 2nd tank "still can't be correct"? I have always kept track of my gas mileage in my wifes and my vehicle. Until now I thought I made a mistake leaving GM going to toyota and I still think something is not right but I can't put any more gas into my tacoma? Can't wait until third fill up to see if I am still screwing up?

I believe those digital guages show the mileage you are getting at the exact moment, not the true mileage of the truck. He needs to use math (miles driven/gallons used) to figure his overall gas mileage. The 5.7 hemi is supposed to get about 13 mpg city, 18 mpg hwy.

I am waiting on mine to come in. Should be in 2 more weeks. Has anyone noticed if the tonneau cover has helped or is that just a myth?

My question is what size are your tires? As well as what package is your truck? The reason being, my 07 came with smaller tires than was supposed to be on the truck. Causing errors when filling up and figuring mileage. I got 25.?? on a few ocassions then realized my tires were not what the computer was thinking they were, I was actually driving less miles than the odometer thought. This is confirmed by your speedometer being slow compared to a GPS. Just a note, not saying this isn't possible.

Tires are stock 265/65/17s. It's a DC TRD Sport. My TomTom usually says I'm going 3mph slower than the speedo reads (speedo is fast compared to GPS).

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
Just checked today, GPS says 4 mph over at 40, and 5 mph over at 50. Classic difference from what I have read. I could believe the gas mileage. Stranger things have happened. What I can't believe is you let your girlfriend dictate what you do with your boat. Which did you have first? LOL :ballchain:

Haha, I thought I'd get flack for that sooner. I had the girl first, thought I'd suprise her with a boat for the summer...I think she expected a Hinckley.

That's totally believable. I have gotten 23 mpg on multiple occasions on trips up and down I95. That's with my (slightly) larger tires, too.

If the speedometer reads faster than the presumably accurate GPS , then isn't that an error, in turn registering more miles per tank full than you are actually traveling?
