24.9 w/ a 2wd auto, long trip under interstate speeds, I believe it.

Just got back from 1000 mi trip (50 mi of that in 4hi) w/ my 4x4 6spd. Not much interstate. All three tanks within a couple tenths of 21 mpg. And that w/ about a 1000 lb load of 2 adults, 2 kids, all our crap for a week AND my 350 lb dual sport moto in the bed.

Kind of squirrelly measurement. Half a tank and you are topping off. That can skew the numbers a lot.

Do full tanks, don't top off and take a running average.

(BTW, is much easier to just use one of the trip odometers)

    It's a 4x4.

The odometer is pretty easy to do....(current-last)/ gallons used. Topping off is usually less than .5 gal and makes sure the pump didn't click off prematurely.

I ran some numbers today and thought about this a bit. Let's see if I can make my findings make sense...

    1. Larger tires make fewer revolutions in one mile (because they're bigger)
    2. The odometer racks up one mile but the vehicle actually travels MORE than 1 mile.
    3. The gas calculation we use is total number of miles shown on the odometer divided by the number of gallons showing on the gas pump. This is wrong! We need to use a multiplication factor to convert the miles the odometer shows to the miles we ACTUALLY travel. I thought I was getting about 16mpg. After crunching the numbers, I'm getting 17.1mpg. That's pretty close to what i was getting before I installed the larger tires.

PM me if you want me to send you the excel spreadsheet. I just duplicated the tire calculator from the spec miata page and used their info for the basis of my spreadsheet.

There's also a tire size calculator under the "Mods & Tutorials" pulldown that will give the difference between two tire sets. I went from a 265/70R16 to a 285/75R16 which makes the odometer difference about 7%.

not to many, love it the way it is
22.5 mpg best here. 09 stock pre runner v6, tires p245/75 r16. that 22.5 was a few tanks later after i had just switched over to 91 or 93 octane exclusively. average now 20.5 to 22. 18.5 mpg was the worst when I first got the truck brand new.

I have 80 pound nerf bars on the truck and a 40 pound rubber mat and an aluminum tool box , 90 pounds. that is an extra 210 lbs of weight added to the truck at all times

It has used X amount of gallons since filling up, he gets value X by filling it up again. How is X being skewed? I don't get it.
