Hows your KM2's doing? Any idea how many miles you have on them? My PS front is cupping. No fault of the tire...the owner refuses to get his alignment fixed

Seems to me the reason my first gen tacoma alloys (16x7) work on my truck (2012 Tacoma) with my 255/85 Cooper tires when the same tires on 16x8 Method wheels rubbed the fender flares is because the Gen 1 alloys place the tire slightly inboard (less offset?) as compared to the 8" wide Method wheels. For this reason I bet you cannot use the Spidertrax spacers unless you cut up your flares. Abandon any thought of running mud flaps right now.

Well, I think I am just going to order some & see if they fit. I priced them at the local cooper vendor & they want $295/tire installed. Ha, tirecrawler.com says $200/tire & mounting goes for $25/tire.

I may need to lose the spidertrax, though. We'll see.

By "best" I guess I meant least rubbing issues. I like a wider look/stance ( hence the spacers and to run my current rims) but how will the BS affect the rubbing that I'll see. What are the specs on your wheels? Unfortunately I'm not able to mount and test each rim/set up before.

Lighten up, Frances. I wish I could snap my fingers & make the tires appear out of thin air. I am still price checking the other local vendors.

Ordered. $889 from Treaddepot.com. They only had 6 in stock. Now they are down to 2. That is $400 cheaper than any local vendors.

Thanks for sharing that. They even ship to Canada, so may have to give them a call and see how much shipping would be. $990 for 5 cooper st/maxxs. If shipping isn't to bad, may be worth it...

I have 8" wide wheels with 4" backspacing. I had to beat back the pinch weld, center my rear axle, and trim some plastic on the inside of the fender flares to get the 255 KM2s to fit at full stuff. I also have a steel front bumper which helps with clearance, but I think just some trimming of a stock bumper would work. Every truck is different though.

Tirecrawler.com has the Coopers in stock. Their shipping is over the top though. That's why I went with tread depot. $96 vs. $146 to ship. They do have a coupon code for shipping, which brought it down to $115. It is SHIPSAVE25. Tread depot was also slightly more expensive per tire: $198 vs.$199.50.

    Goodyear has a 255/85R16?

    All I know of is:
    -the BFG Mudd Terrain KM2,
-now two from Cooper (I have) the ST, and ST Maxx),
-the heavy and tough Toyo M/T,
-and a couple Treadwright repops available at times.

busted out the BFH and trimmed the flares. They perform, look, fit, and feel awesome!

I kept the spidertrax 1.25" on so I am running a 3.25" BS; no rub on the frame.

Not sure if this has been posted before or not, but here's a side by side comparison of the Discoverer S/T and Toyo M/T in 255/85-16:

    IMAG00441_zps65aebd46_5d352808e8efaed1ab9d9dbacfe905f414e29e0d.jpg

FWIW both tires are unmounted. It's kind of hard to tell from the pic, but they are the same height. The Toyo definitely looks significantly larger overall, but it could just be the big tread and side lugs.

I picked up the Cooper to run as my spare under the bed to get a little more ground clearance, especially if I go to a high clearance rear bumper. I've got a 285/75-16 under their right now, and so hopefully it fits.

3" lift EIBACH coils w/ 5100's front, OME/ Dakar leaf springs w/ toytec adjustable shackles at 1.5" and 5125's out back. 33x10.5x15 KM2's Relentless DIY steel bumper.
From the picture the toyo looks taller and wider. Maybe it's different in person. As for the cooper ST fitting in the stock spare brackets, it can be done. I had to cut the ends of the brackets (closest to the rear bumper) off in order for the 255/85/16 tire to fit.

Thanks for the comparison!!! I've always wondered if there's a size difference between the few 255/85 options.
