Thinking about running 285/75r16 on my taco, I have 2.5 inch leveling kit and wonder if anybody with my similar set up is that size tire?

I'm about to run a similar setup, 3" in the front and 1.5" in the rear with 285/75r16s. Be prepare to seriously cut some shit

I hope not lol I was just planning on pinch weld and maybe putting an angle in the front bumper, what else you reckon I will have to cut?

Not sure where you got that info but 90% of first Gen guys run this set-up and you might have to pound down the pinch weld some if you wheel your truck but definitely no "serious cutting" of anything is involved.

"My info" is from what i've had to do. To run 265/75r16s on 2" of lift in the front stock rear I had to chop up my fender flares, bend the pinch weld and cut that piece that hangs in the front when you remove your front bumper. You could see a gap in the bumper as well, looks like the tire could have pushed the factory front bumper forward, but there could've been caused by something else. This is with a appropriate (4.5") backspaced wheel. They still rub full crank while wheeling and going over bumps. Mind you, these are only 265/75R16s with only 2" of lift in the front.

    Agree

Had between 2.5-3" up front on Sway A Way coilovers and ran BFG muds on TRD Ivans and had no issues...I previously flattened the pinch weld due to SLIGHT rubbing thanks to 255/85/16s I had that were taller

    No major cutting involved

Huh?:notsure: Guess that extra inch at 3" of lift really makes the difference then. I am running 5100's and 3" eibach lift coils. And a toyec aal in the rear with 4" of backspacing on 285/75/16. I removed my flaps and did pinch weld. I only rub at full rear flex and that's it.
I plan to put in some axle relocation plates to help with that. Most guys I know that have a 3" lift with this tire size have about the same small issues.

No drooling emoji? Thanks, TW. That's a sharp lookin' truck.

Same, even before reading this. Oh well. Got a buyer lined up for my old ones and have a discount tire quote ready to go. Live and learn I suppose.

I doubt that'll ever happen if I rubbed with 265s haha. I read a shit ton before purchasing and everywhere said 4.5". Oh well. Just gotta get that bank account up then I can play too.

Anyway, sorry for thread jacking OP.

3" Toytec spacers, Bilstein 5100s in the back with add a leaf and overloads removed.
My truck had that same setup for 5 years. On stock wheels. It'll rub the frame but very doable

OP pretty important if you do run 285/75 you will need at least 4-4.25" of back spacing on your wheels so they will clear your uca's also.

Your going to either need different wheels or spacers. Those wheels are 5.25" back spacing
