I'm preparing to put on a set of Bilstein 6112 shocks and wondering how much lift I NEED to keep my 285s. I'm currently running the following measurements (hub center to fender):

    Driver's side: 23.375
    Passenger side: 23.75

This puts me at approximately 2.875" of lift on the driver's side, and 3.25" on the passenger side. I'm wondering if I could get by with less, perhaps 2.75" and still have clearance for the 285s without having to trim the cab mount.

I am not certain on my current backspacing, so I'll have to figure that out to get all of the necessary information to answer my question... but curious how much lift y'all are running to clear your 285s.

I've got 23 even on both sides, 285s won't fit with out removing the mudflaps, bending the pinch weld. The cab mount is iffy. I've got stock TRD 17s for wheels, with 1.25 spacers.

Thank you, that is helpful information. I MIGHT have some room to move here.

    Anybody else?

First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
I run 265s and have 24" of hub center to fender height with a 3" OME lift. Even side to side. And more important to me have 14" of ground clearance at the lowest point.

I'd looked at 285s but agree with Arcticelf, there is simply too much vehicle modification for too little benefit.

To be frankly honest, I've been running 285s for 100k mi+ now and found the fender trimming to be pretty minimal... didn't mess with the cab mounts, either. I've been happy with the choice thus far.

Problem I'm having is that I don't have any measurements from the stock truck and I'm replacing my 5100s with 6112s. My measurements were higher than Arcticelf, but lower than mountainwolfpup.

I set my passenger side 6112 up last night and it lifted much more than I anticipated. Trying to figure out how much aftermarket lift I have, and how much I can take off of it and still clear the 285s.

    Take a look here:

I had the same issue with failing to measure before.

I think alot of the clearance issue has to due with the tolerance on each truck, and the alignment, lotsa people with 285s and no issues, lots of us chopping the hell out of things to make it work.

so you are at 24 hub to fender on 265 with a 3"lift. Im stock at 22 1/2 hub to fender on my front. I may as well not pay for a lift like king or icon to gain only 1.5"more
