It doesn’t seem like that much work. Some toggle bolts to apply pressure might be the key. Trimming just right seems to be an important detail. If I get to it I’ll try to take a photo if I get a just right trim done.

No. It's more like you cut/grind out the old face area to fit in the new one. Removing the entire panel and going to the bench with it would most definitely result in a cleaner install.

There are no bolt holes on the front to go through, nor any clips. It's more of a friction fit and once it is epoxied in from the rear, it should look as factory as possible.

Plz do! Not a ton of info freely floating around the webs on this install. I have the piece in hand and have watched one video on it.

I want to use my Switch Pro to activate this. Which wire on the green connector goes to the Switch Pro. I assume the other 3 wires will be unused?

    So hacking an gluing then...

Were you able to do the work from the front? - How long did it take? - I've not found any DIY reference...

I just did my overhead panel 3 switch mod. - all hacking and gluing (a bit of dremel and some epoxy spots - not too bad.

The wiring on the connector is the same as most of the aftermarket switches. In the picture below you want to connect your switchpros output to Red 1. Everything else can be taped off and is not used.

Just ordered the kit for my MT. I will not smell my clutch again while moving the trailer. Thanks for the modification. I’m just concerned about the install but it looks fairly straightforward.

Install is pretty simple... take your time and watch your clips. On the first post there are links to several install guides.

Thanks I may wait and install it when my clazzio covers come in. I figure my 6’4” 270lb self will have a bit more room to operate with no seats in the truck.

Ordered my kit early Tuesday morning.

I'm wondering if I might be able to repurpose my Qi charging switch for this?

The wireless charging is hit and miss for me, I suspect due to heavy dust from trips out to cabin...regardless, I don't use the Qi wireless charging at all.

I need to dig up some wiring diagrams I reckon.

There is no wire to wire male connector for the qi switch. Unplug it and toss it in a bin.

There is an aftermarket charging pad. I installed mine recently. Works well. Comes with a T harness for the power socket. You don’t use the qi system or button at all. Could also be wired as desired.

The best advice is to use one of the switches OP recommends.

Did this mod last weekend. Took about 40 mins to put in. Followed the write ups in the first post. No broken clips! So much easier now to back that dual.axle trailer up. Just slowly let out the clutch with a lil gas. And then just steer. No more clutch needed until your where you need to be. Nice and slow. Full control.

    Highly recommended!!

I ordered a kit on the 29th so I guess I will be finding out fairly soon how it is to install. I will definitely watch and read everything I can prior to installing it. I look forward to having the ability to use my truck like a truck.

My kit came today. I have to say it looks perfect. The wiring and plugs are well made quality work. Thanks for the mod now to order a switch and get to installing.

edit: thanks @lapoltba this is just a must have for us MT’s.

Got my kit Friday and my switch yesterday, knocked out the install last night in about an hour. Not too bad at all, didn’t even remove my radio as I was able to slip my arm straight across to the switches and was able to pop out my first blank and feed the harness over there. It works great, it’s fun to test it out in the parking lot or on the driveway. I did need a bit of gas in reverse going up the driveway but not a big deal. It’s simply a tall gear.

I do not like the ignition switch illumination, definitely need to tie that into the dash circuit especially to dim it because it’s way too bright as is. I’d rather no indicator at all than the way it is. So I need to get with Kyle or Dave on that one for a PNP harness.

Thanks @BigWhiteTRD for coming up with this mod and @lapoltba for creating a nice mass-produced solution. In the Frontier world nobody had solutions for anything so I was always creating custom wiring projects for myself. Very nice to not have to do that anymore because someone already has come up with everything I need/want here.

    Thank you again @lapoltba!

I installed the 2wd low mod this weekend. - I also routed the switch to my overhead panel which had no spare slots. (Fortunately, I had installed the custom 3 switch overhead switch panel previously for that purpose.)

I did that plus the puddle pods, the dash tweeters, door speakers and installed a custom driver side switch panel to accommodate some more switches.

I tested the 2wd low mod once and it seems to work!

    :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
