So I have been searching the forums for ideas on who anyone might have crafted a flag pole for a flag off the bed rail. I am newer to the forum and want to get some of these little mods done before I head out downrange. I was thinking maybe drilling a bolt into a piece of PVC pipe, and slide the bolt head into the side rail. Any input appreciated. Thanks!

I took a fishing rod holder and two carriage bolts and it bolts right up! I think they were 1/2" bolts. You may need to take a file and shave off a tiny bit on the head so it fits in the rail better. You just take off the cover on the end of the rail and the bolts slip in. Pretty self explanatory. This pole from Home Depot was the perfect fit.

I hacked an old Firestik in half and bolted it to my bed rack. Used some Sharkbite tarp clamps and a marine flag.

well you can count on 2 from me. Maybe make the diameter big enough to fit 2 3/8"? big enough to use a metal post as a pole?

That's a big bigger than I was thinking. I was probably going to do 1" or 1.25" ID
