nice. Not directly but similar ideas I had. I had him make me 2 plugs with all the wires for brake, reverse, running and blinker so I had the option from both sides. I have had at least one occasion a mad truck driver pull up on the right in traffic yelling he couldn't see my brake lights (tire/hi-lift at the time blocked it on one side.)

Interesting idea with those lights ill has to check it out since it has all three functions. I was thinking how I could tap into the top lights I have for chase/rear use for reverse as well.

I think the bummer about a 7 pin intercept T harness is your brake and turns are muddled into one signal. For any custom non-trailer stuff I'd prefer more explicit separation of signals. But it sure is a nice spot to grab beefy power from.

The wiring diagram for the 2nd gen disagrees about your "muddled" signals.

    Sorry, how so?

BRK is the trailer brake controller feed. STTR and STTL are brake + turn for R and L respectively, at least as I understand things?

Muddled = joined. TURN & STOP are one circuit via towing combiner module.

I stand corrected. I forgot about the towing package having a plug by the drivers left foot that a brake controller plugs into providing this BRK signal.

Looks like I'm scrapping this idea and will just order the 2 piece kit from the @Puppypunter

2nd gens are better, change my mind.
    @daveeasa @caribe makaira @Puppypunter

not sure where to put this, but all of you seem active here and I might not be the only one with this question….

I have a 2nd gen but with a 3rd gen conversion rear bumper. How can I get the 2nd gen trailer 7 pin converted to the 3rd gen 7 pin? They are different from my understanding. I already purchased the 3rd gen plug housing.

Also same with 2nd to 3rd license lights. I have already purchased the 3rd gen housings as well. What connecter do I need to buy to cut and solder in to replace the 2nd gen connecter?

Dave is working on the BE1 connector of the 2nd Gen that mates to the T12(7pin), so you might be in luck.
And Johnny has the mating connector to the 3rd Gen T12.

It’s going to take me some time I think.

    neat project for you though.

one problem is a new pigtail from be1 for 2nd Gen is $300 but used is more reasonable since you have the connector. Maybe try that, picking up a used 2nd Gen pigtail with the proper black connector and see how far you get?

plate lights should be easy. Others with replacement bumpers might be able to donate their old wire or we can make something new.

It's been done before. Mating BE1 to dual 3rd Gen T12.

I did get an extra female (the one on the left) so if someone locates the 7 and 4 along with terminals and supplies the length, this becomes possible.

Being completely honest, you guys are speaking Latin to me. I have no skin in the game when it comes to these kinds of things. If we can communicate and work on this together I can help in any way I can and I would make it worth someone’s while to make this happen.

Johnny has the missing connector to the 3rd Gen T12.
Dave, the 7 & 4 is joined internally in the T12.

@daveeasa You have a female BE1? (I assume female is what is needed? @caribe makaira could tell me, Caribe knows all :)) And yes, I do have the female T12 (I guess that is what it is? This thing: )
