I've fought my fingers in a wire buffing wheel that shit isn't a fun feeling my wasn't as bad as yours. I kept working. Just taped it up and put a glove over it.

Lol actually that's exactly what I did this time too, a paper towel and some electrical tape then stuffed it in a tight fitting glove to finish the day off.

So when you buffed your finger did you have to fill out an incident report?

image.jpg Okay finally made a little progress this morning, didn't get as far as I was hoping but at least it's moving in the right direction.

Started out by cutting out some 3"x7" blocks out of s piece of 1" thick flat stock.

Next it set my harbor freight band saw up in the vertical position. I started to make the first cut but got very impatient and decided I wanted to test out my new plasma cutter instead.

The plasma cutter is rated to cut 5/8" and sever up to 1-1/8" so I wasn't expecting too much but figured it was worth a shot.

image.jpgIt cut all the way through, but slag held the severed piece on to the main block.
    image.jpg
A little knock from the other block and it comes off nicely.
    image.jpg

Next I brought all the pieces over to the disc sander to start cleaning them up.
    image.jpg

I didn't clean them all the way to the tip because I'm going to end up shortening the ends any way and it is a very time consuming process.

And here's a sneak peek at a side project I've been slowly putting together. It is going to be a small press break for bending brackets an other short pieces.

    image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

The angle iron will be the bottom die the large piece of steel will be the top die and a piece of tubing will be welded to the top die, which will slide on 1" round stock for alignment. Still need to make more pieces it's just a very slow work in progress that do when I get bored once in a while.
