So I decided to weld in a tube across the top to make it easier to mount the skid with the metal I had laying around.image.jpgthen I added gussets to the corners for mounting points.image.jpgnext I cleaned it all up with a flap disk.image.jpgthen I test fitted it again to mark how the skid set against it so I could drill holes.image.jpg Also my clevises finally showed up so I threw them on to see how the looked.image.jpg Last for the day I drilled holes in the gussets and the skid. Now I need to go buy some bolts and put it all together to check the alignment, if all is well hopefully soon it will be time for paint.

Well... Due to human error I somehow managed to drill the holes for the skid plate upside down lol so since that was my last chunk of scrap I cut it down to fit between the tubbing for now until I buy more plate steel.image.jpg funny thing is my friends that I've shown the pics to earlier actually suggested to make the skid like this because they liked the look of the tubes.image.jpgjust waiting on paint to dry now.image.jpg

They are 295/55r20 nitto trail grapplers. They're about equal to a 35.

image.jpg Well I got it installed.
I will run it as it is for the time being but I will definitely be upgrading the skid to a larger unit in the near future. Looks ok and is solid as a rock but I want more wide spread protection.image.jpgimage.jpg What do you guys think?

That is just amazing fab work, start making them I will buy one if you put a winch plate on it instead of the light bar.

Also the skid plate requires the sway bar to be removed, but that thing sucked and the truck rides so much nicer without it.

I'm tossing around the idea of adding a hoop to the top of the bumper aswell.

Well I guess I tossed that idea around enough that I decided I would take ten minutes to bend one up for a visual lol, funny how life gets in the way sometimes. I have two options in my head but I only bent up one. The other option would be a taller hoop with smaller kickers off the side. So let's here it yay or nay. Good thing I had my helper to hold it so I could stand back and snap some pics.image.jpgimage.jpg

Roughed the ends in this morning. A little fine tuning and it should be ready to weld on.

image.jpg image.jpg Haven't decided yet but I may put light bar tabs on the back side.
