I'll probably just build a custom drop hitch with built in chain hooking spot.

I could always hook them on the bottom gusset for the drop hitch with a hole in the gusset

I will need a pretty large drop anyway, and I can't see buying what I could build myself lol

looking forward to see how you mount the bumper mounts to the square bumper itself.

Ya I bought a 8" drop out of immediate necessity and art a piece of cool spring (has a trash one laying around) to the back as a catch for the chains... but I'm guessing at this point, with the lift and then added height of the bumper, I need AT LEAST a 12" to get anywhere near stock height...

I think of it as making trailers more efficient now.. instead of flat, they counteract the weight by acting like a big wing and lifting up! Hahahaha

Stopped and bought some suplys this morning.

image.jpg I'm pretty much fueled by Monster energy drinks lol. I probably spend $50-100 a week on them.

Primed the mounts for rust protection.
    image.jpgAnd now I'm cutting the back tube to 57 3/8" long. image.jpg
It's been ten minutes... This may take awhile. I will try to update again before I go to work.

Oh yea as you can see I'm moving up in the world and found some ancient saw horses to use instead of box springs for a work surface lol

It is a jd2 model 32 it's easy to use and great quality. I think it's about $400 but that doesn't include any dies, those can get pricy I think I have $1300-$1400 in it with two die sets.

After trying to get these off nicely for a few minutes I got sick of it and looked up how much replacements are online. $5 for 50. Not worth my time lol I broke every one and orderd a pack of new clips.

 great work on the front bumper! Looks awesome and different from the other bumpers out there. Looking forward to watching the progress on the rear

Well I got the rear tube tacked on to the mounting brackets. Don't have time to weld them up today but at least I got it hung.

The gap between the tail gate and bumper had to be larger than I originally thought. I want to make sure I won't be wrecking my tail gate when I open it.

Going to try to get off work early to work on the truck, decided to cut the tacks back off because I forgot to clean the millscale off the tube and that makes for poor welds. Also I want to put shims behind the mounts so it goes on and off easier. Will update if things work out as planed.

Got off early so I grabbed a few cold ones from the gas station and headed to the garage to fix my error and hopefully make some forward progress tonight.

    image.jpg

All shined up and ready to re tack on.

    image.jpg

I'm also going to make small notches to the truck side of the tube for easier fitment.

    Welded metal
For added strength I cut slots into the bumper for the angle iron to slide into and welded both sides

IMPORTANT: don't forget to cover your beer from the grinding dust lol. image.jpg

Okay now back to the show

Installed highly sophisticated shims behind mounts:

    image.jpg

Also had a small one in front of the two holes but it didn't make the pic.

    Continued.. Fat fingers

    Any ways welded everything solid.

Made a mistake on the length of the bottom flat stock so I recycled the tabs I cut out of the tube earlier

    image.jpg

image.jpg Good as new. Triple passed the inside for strength. Just waiting for everything to cool off for a test fit.

Just for reference double the shims. It fits but it's pretty tight.
