Did it a while ago. Solved my loss of cruise control. Was actually a breeze to do.

I ordered a chinese copy on ebay that stated it was brand new OEM. Confronted them about it and they sent me a full refund and let me keep the fake clockspring. I gave it away to a member on here and bought a $230 OEM repacement from mcgeorge toyota parts

I didn’t want to trust something chinese to be the line between my airbag working or not working....

Everything works. Did have to move the steering angle sensor over, but everything was easy and done in about 40 minutes including 20 minute wait time after disconnecting the battery.

THANK YOU FOR THIS!! I saved $250!

I replaced my clockspring without success. For anyone having an airbag issue on a 2nd Gen Tacoma, this is the solution that worked for me that I documented here.

I’m sorry to ask such a stupid question but I just wanted to be sure. After replacing the clock spring with the correct P/N, will I regain cruise control AND audio controls on the steering wheel?

    Update on mine.

Replaced first one with oem before tsb. Toyota reimbursed me after tsb.

Replaced second one with one of two $18 clocksprings I bought.
Still going strong, backup still on shelf.

Do what works for you on your truck.
    Just sayin...

OEM won't last any longer or be any more special than the cheap ones on ebay. The air bag technology isn't rocket science and doesn't require a $230 piece of ribbon wire in plastic to work correctly. The air bag system does a complete check every time you start-up your truck and if anything is wrong the dummy light will glow. No light, no problem. There's quite a few people who have reported failures in very short time with OEM from the dealer.

Maybe the Taiwanese made oem one will save my life over the Chinese copy since nothing from china is to be trusted anymore. My money, my choice.

Its been working fine, sooooo :p

Broke the clock spring when I replaced the steering rack on my gf's tacoma. Typical symptoms, horn didn't work, airbag light was on. Replaced it with an OEM clockspring for $230ish and all is working great now. The steering wheel nut torque spec is 37 ft-lbs but does anyone know what the torque spec for the airbag torx screws are? Having a little trouble finding the right torque spec for those and for right now they're tightened down "just enough" but I definitely want to go by the book on those.

Why would you keep putting in something that clearly does not work? Pay once cry once.
