Nice, post up some stuff here if you will. I’m curious to see it. Should have an easier go than me mixing pieces

Great writeup, about to do this with the full kit (ordered). Just putting together my fitting package from Amazon now. When you say quantity 2, do you mean two pieces, or two orders? Like the 8 AN caps, did two or 4 used?

When you mounted yours using the moto bracket, does the fuel cell need a "floor" to sit on, or is the bracket substantial enough to float the fuel cell in the cage from the clamping hardware points.

Last, I'm assuming the cell doesn't come with any foam or baffling of any kind. Did you have any issues with fuel slosh starving the pump at lower fuel levels? Did you add any baffle foam?

Here’s the order from Amazon. The motobilt bracket is probably meant to be secured to a flat jeep backseat area. I welded mine to a few tubes that happened to run underneath. Probably doesn’t need a whole lot, just some good support underneath. The bottom plate is pretty substantial if I recall correctly.

No foam or baffling that I’m aware of in the RCI, but I never noticed any issues. Always kept at least half a tank in there though.

Fantastic! Thank you for the info and screenshot.

Other than buying the moto kit vs cutting your own hole, is there anything you would have done differently? Not having an evap code isn't a huge deal for me, but I figured I'd give it a shot preserving the system initially.

Aside from the motobilt tank I don’t think so. It was a pretty easy swap looking back at it. I ditched the canister when I did my SAS since it was a Christmas light dash at that point and I didn’t need any traction control stuff. Fun fact that you lose those systems when you get an evap code- at least with an 09 off-road.

No way? That's hilarious. I've had the evap code before. I installed a 15 gallon tank in the bed for long duration of road journeys. Just spliced into the factory fill tube with a high flow fuel pump. Flip the switch in the cab and I could watch my fuel gage go up while driving down the trail. Had to make a few tweaks to get the code to go away, but never lost traction control since its an 07 I guess. What a bizarre connection for Toyota to make.

Yeah I noticed my traction control light comes on with evap cel, but never occurred to me it actually disabled it.

I remember discussing it with some folks and the best guess was that since the throttle is modulated with some of the nanny systems maybe that’s why they shut it off. Or they just want to get you to the dealership quicker. Who knows. EPA is greater than the consumer experience.

alright, i have a few more questions that i'm hoping to job your memory with. finally getting to the point of plumbing everything back up. i decided not to retain the evap canister and all that stuff. there is a plug that goes into the canister. presumably a sensor and some sort of actuator. did you just leave that plug hanging?

essentially all i'll have is the extended plug that goes into the top of the fuel pump, the two fuel lines coming off the fuel pump, and a vent coming off the top of the tank from the rollover valve. there is one more line that runs up to the front of the vehicle it's a non pressure line that came off of part of the evap system. not sure if its a vacuum line or what. did you cap that as well, or did you splice that into the vent?

    My poor bad memoryyyyyyy!!!

If there’s a plug I definitely let it dangle. I didn’t do any electrical trickery I know that much lol

I know the line you’re thinking of that runs up front. I’m searching through pictures and it looks like I put a little lawnmower filter on it and let it suck wind. I can’t think of any other line this could have gone to. That’s my best guess.

    Perfect, thank you!

I have a couple of these sitting around. Looks like what you used on your vent. Did you ever have any issues with fuel coming out of the vent filter from bouncing around or being off camber to the right? I'm trying to figure out how high above the fuel cell the vent should be.

I never had any issue, but I think the “correct” way would be to loop it and mount it a bit higher than the cell. I could be wrong…

The loop is a good idea. Kind of like a p-trap under a sink.

Exactly. I feel like the ball vent style would be really hard to get spillage from sloshing around or flipping over though. Feels like it would be pretty quick to close up
