Just changed my headlights out too.
The bolt underneath was probably the hardest to do... Took me like 10 minutes to get the first one. There's two bolts under there, it's the one on the top.

When I got to the other side it was a walk in the park.

    Thanks for this thread!

What did you guys use to reseal the headlamp assembly? This is probably the only thing stopping me from doing this mod.

I just pushed the OEM sealant back into the grooves before reassembling the headlights. Worked like a charm. Been almost 2 years now and have never had any condensation issues.

    Chris:
THX for the detailed headlight removal. It was a PITA on my 2009 base extended cab Tacoma.

But the HID install is going full guns today. Headlights are aimed and ready to be resealed.

I used this thread to install my new clear headlights. Thank you!! Awesome thread!!

Then these piece of shit cheap headlights fell apart...blinker lenses "fell" out!!!!

So with the help and advice from TOYOTA TECH31 I took headlights back out, shook them until the lens was at the headlight hole and used tin snips to cut the bastards up. Then I painted the ends of the blinker wire plug white because these will be exposed now. Then put em back in the truck.

Not a big fan of the exposed blinker light but i had no other choice really. I wasn't going to bake them!!!

Actually.....the more I go outside and look at it.....I do like it better. Those lenses gave the bulbs a wierd look or some shit. i just wanna see what they look like at night without the lens. I'm assuming it will still reflect just fine.

Have you removed your grille yet? If so, the clip is fully visible like in this pic from the OP:

It was the clip inside. I finally realized that I'd have to wiggle the headlight out of the way then pop the clip on the inside. Bhlm was the scariest thing I've ever done and ill never do it again lol

I removed the lower wheel well liner, below the headlight, and it made the removal quite easy.

If i am reading that right, you are asking how to take apart the headlights to do a black headlight mod? If i am right, here's one of many how to threads on it, hope this helps:
