So what do the 2 lines go to? I've never checked in too much detail but I thought every slave cyl only had a high pressure line going to it. Is one a return line or something?

One line is the feed line to the slave cylinder. That line just links up with the factory hard line on the frame rail. The second line is just used to bleed the system. You want to be able to get all the air out of the lines and the only way to do that since the slave cylinder is inside the bellhousing is to run a second line out. Also key to note is the bleed line is the line at the top of the cylinder which means you can purge all the air out of the system.

Thanks, that makes sense. I wonder if we get enough people from TW and other forums in on it if they'd be willing to do a group buy. My truck has 55k on it and the bearing has squeak since day 1. Toyota replaced it once with the same design and the squeak is back.

At some point I had though about replacing the clutch with a beefier one so be nice to do this at the same time.

Yeah I think a group buy could definitely be something that Clutch Masters would be willing to do. I know they just want to get the kit in the hands of a few others to have them test it all out as well and get a few other thoughts on the kit. I don't see why anyone else should have any issues but since the install was on an FJ they want to make sure that it will be similar setup on a Tacoma. All the research and the couple 2nd Gen Tacomas I looked at, everything should be identical.

I'll touch base with Clutch Masters though and let them know their is some pretty good interest in the kits and through out the idea of a group buy!

Thanks for the info, was hoping to hear from someone with real world experience and I did notice they have these for many other vehicles too so it's not their first kick at the can. I would be interested in a group buy for sure.

Ps. A lot of the rev hang is programmed into the ecu. Hptuners allows the rev hang to be removed or user adjusted for feel. Ive been running it for a while now and it's a whole different world. My fluid control valve (clutch accumulator) has been deleted for about a month now, definitely better without it.

I am so excited to find this! This looks like the solution for the worst part of my truck... Perfection nearing!

You're right and I have known that some of the "rev hang" is programmed into the ECU and is found in basically all drive by wire cars as a way to help with emissions and an overly rich air/fuel mixture but there is definitely still the fact the factory system uses a fluid return control valve that makes the issue even worse and more noticeable. As you mentioned though, with the valve deleted you noticed a difference for the better. HPTuners doesn't support the FJ unfortunately, although I suspect the Tacoma and FJ mapping and ECU's can't be that much different....

The valve seems to create lag and makes the clutch pedal bite point inconsistent so it's definitely more driveable without it. The tuning is responsible for the majority of the rev hang. Now when I let off the gas the revs drop quickly within a couple of seconds.

Looks like HPTuners is going to support the FJ and they've been absolutely awesome with listening to feedback from this forum and addressing issues concerning the tacoma.

Sweet that's awesome to hear from someone who's had experience with both the ECU side of the rev hang and the fluid control valve. All I know is I noticed a drastic difference in the feeling of the clutch and how the engine responded to shifts with the hydraulic slave cylinder installed and the valve deleted. Everything just seems to be smoother and happen quicker now. As you said it just feels much more consistent overall.

Also that will be great if HPTuners supports the FJ. Currently there is only a company out of AUS that has developed revised ECU mapping for the FJ but it's like $1200!

What years is the fluid accumulators in? Mine is a 2010 and I noticed the rev hang and terrible clutch feel but never saw an accumulator on the clutch line.

Pretty sure it’s in all 2nd and 3rd gen Tacoma’s. Its possible yours was already deleted as that is a pretty common mod. The accumulator is definitely visible just looking at the side of the transmission right above OE the slave cylinder.

Can we get this stickied or something? This is one of the most important developments for us manual owners since 2005.

+1 to all of this! Deleting rev hang from the ECU and improved throttle mapping, courtesy of @HPTuners and @JustDSM, combined with the MT ADM has my truck driving like it always should have. Highly recommended!

i'd like to figure out if this works for us who have already done the URD hydrobearing kit, specifically if this can somehow bolt to the URD provided bracket ?

The "rev hang" issue is not just in drive by wire vehicles- older vehicles with throttle cables can also have this - they hold the IACV open even though the throttle plate is closed. It's almost like driving a diesel without an engine brake as the car just cruises forever when you let off the gas and there's no compression braking as there should be. My Evo does this to the extreme and it drives me nuts.

The hydraulic throwout bearings have been around for many years and are popular with the old car scene where modern transmission swaps are common
