Does anyone know if the 4runner mirrors are the same size mirror as our Tacomas? I'm trying to decide whether to use the TRD Sport mirrors w/o heat or the 4Runner mirrors and I don't want to give up mirror size.

Thanks, I'm interested in the physical size of the mirror. I'm trying to figure out if I'll lose viewing area by using a 4Runner mirror instead of a Tacoma Sport Mirror.

While I'm at it does anyone know if all the newer 2014 Tacomas are wired for the turn signals? I have heard Toyota pre wires their trucks regardless of option, and the 2014 Sport definitely has turn signals on the mirrors.

 

The size of both are close to the same, I installed the 4runner ones on mine and love them, I think the newer trucks are wired for turn signals but not positive, if you don't need heat or puddle lamps then use the Tacoma mirrors and they are not as costly as the OEM 4runner ones.

 

I don't know for sure, but I would assume that all A/C and D/C Tacoma's are pre-wired for the mirrors because two trims have the signal mirrors. (Sport and Limited) I don't know why they don't just add the singals to all of the trucks.

 

Thanks for the input. I'm hoping to start off with only the turn signals hooked up, and then in the summer when its not monsoon season I'll attempt wiring the heated mirrors. Sounds like 4Runner mirrors are what I shall try.

Where have you guys been getting your 4runner mirrors? Are you using factory oem parts or aftermarket?

 

500 dollars in parts for mirrors... Little excessive but looks nice

 

Actually I found some oem ones on eBay (not the pair together) cost me like $300 alone for both with no covers
Covers I got at Toyota colored match for $75ish ($37.50 ea)
And I just got a timer with relay I will be adding for the headed mirrors

 

I think I may try some aftermarket ones.

Is anyone working on the power folding sienna limited mirrors? So far what I've found is the 2011+ mirrors are almost identical to the 2012+ Tacoma mirrors dimensionally. The limited came with the power folding mirror option, so the power connector is different. Also, the mounting base bracket is different, but I think this could be modified to bolt up - I have a side by side of the Tacoma/highlander bracket (left) next to the sienna bracket (right). After finding the motor wasn't working in the ebay mirror I bought, I stripped it down to see what kind of motor they are using - This looks durable enough for outdoor use, right?

 

do the 4 runner mirrors come with auto dimming feature? Is that possible? if so how can I tell if the ones i bought have it?

 

No. The t4r do not have that. - The sienna premium ones do though. If I remember correctly, there is a control module yu need too in order for them all to operate properly.
