2 wall sections on the frame replaced (in red). The circle was paper thin. One wall section and one floor section replaced on the mid frame reinforcements. Everything was de-scaled, wire wheeled and treated with acid. LOTS of cutting and welding today. Everything on the frame feels pretty solid now. The last picture shows the rotten pieces.

Also I just wanted to add that the Ospho (phosphoric acid) product works pretty good. You can see the 2 rotten frame pieces are black after about 8 hours compared to the untreated reinforcement piece.

Here is what the after market mid section reinforcement piece looks like. It fits pretty nicely.

I wire wheeled the frame like 3 times. This is pretty much as good as it's going to get without sandblasting. Tomorrow I will be working on degreasing it and possibly spray it later this week.

Also I cut off the rear shock mounts, won't be needing those anymore.

I rubbed the patina rust down with the acid today and fully degreased with solvent on blue shop towels. It is ready for epoxy sealer.

My dad bought a 3rd gen recently and we noticed that they put seam sealer in between the mid frame reinforcements now from the factory. I have seen plenty of other 2nd gens that have frame rot on the mid section where the leaf hanger mounts. Once painted, I will brush on 3m seam sealer in between each layer of metal to really keep the water out.
