Nice, for some reason I thought you were going to box the frame as well while you were in there. Perfect time to do it.

Frame is looking fantastic. would never have known it had cancer before.

I plan on it, figured it'll be easier to paint the C channel while I have access to it. I'll paint the box in plates also, I'll just sand away the spots I have to weld and touch up the welds. I supposed it could be done either way but I just wanted really good paint coverage in the C channel. All of that will come after I reassemble the frame, install the outside reinforcement and install the front leaf mounts.

The inner frame reinforcements are a major PITA to remove. BTW I think I forgot to mention, I had to cut the gas tank cross member in half to take it out after I got the rivets removed. If you don't have rot in between your frame and reinforcement, cherish it.

I will take your word for it. I do not think I have any rot but lots of cake on dirt/mud that appears like rust but doing a once over on it to clean up any surface rust before it gets bad. I have gusseting the frame and possibly new cross braces on my list to do.

Installed the inner and after market reinforcements. Went to town with the seam sealer. 38 freaking bolts. 20230106_202648.jpg 20230106_202706.jpg 20230106_202855.jpg

I stand corrected, there was a total of 40 rivets removed and replaced with bolts. Once everything was in place I tightened them as hard as my electric 3/8 impact would go and welded the nut to the bolt. Still fully serviceable because I can just cut the weld off and remove the bolt. Although I doubt I will ever be taking this apart again. The front leaf hangers were a pain to mount the holes needed to be slotted due to the additional thickness of the reinforcement plate. I measured eye to eye on the leaf mounts to make sure the mounts weren't off location after I slotted the holes. Also I didn't want to take any chances and also welded the brackets to the frame once they were bolted in place. I started boxing in the frame also.

I hope that you had an air chisel for all of your rivets. Sheesh, that is a lot. At the box section at the end of the frame that you posted, just a suggestion, I also wrapped my weld around the edge and back into it as far as the gun would easily reach.

Yeah I hear you guys but I am all out of money right now. I also still need to body cab mounts and hydro bump stops. I will probably get around to them down the road.

I got a qoute from the local stealerships for all body cab mounting hardware and bushings for around 1000 bucks lol. Best I could do using the part numbers off their quotes online is about 580.

I ordered a engine compartment firewall insulator in September. It is not discontinued but is on back order with no ETA. These part shortages are outrageous.

I was also gunna suggest getting rago Fab or BAMF heavy duty hangers. I hate how budgeting always makes you work more in the long run....
