The stock headers have catalytic converters welded. They are located where the pipe turns down at about a 45 degree angle. They could've put a flange in but they didn't.

As I've been reading your thread, I was thinking to myself about a likely weight difference between the Lexus and Tacoma. To a dummy like me, calling a 1000 lb weight difference is a whole more than a fun fact. It is huge

Not sure, however, what is more exciting about your potential performance benefits. The V8, the weight differential of the donor cars Toyota designed the V8 for, or the fact that your going to retrofit the AWD from the Lexus into your Tacoma. The Toyota version of "big brakes" isn't bad either.

If you went for these features when you settled on finding a GX460 for your donor car because they were all requirements of your design strategy, I'd have to say you're step above being both lucky and very good.

Wishing you all the best on a great project. This will be fun to watch.

Thank you sir, I am just a guy with the will power to build something cool. If everything goes to plan, I should have the transmission out of the lexus this weekend.

The lexus manual is next level. Here is an example of how well everything is documented. Screenshot_20220826-170001_Gallery.jpg

Labor day means you work extra hard. Surprisingly, the wiring harness is pretty easy. The manual says to just unplug at the ecu and pull the engine with all of the wires attached. In general, once you have the headers off, everything else is pretty easy. It does however say that you need to pull the power steering and AC compressor. That didn't make any sense so I didn't and everything worked out.

Everything else in the engine bay looks pretty straightforward.

4runners had the older 4.7l v8 on the limited models. Not sure dimensionally how much different the 4.7 and 4.6 v8s are... would be sick to see a 4 7 or 4.6 v8 with the TRD supercharger!

Well boys, I am getting closer to having this thing fully stripped out. Electrical body harness will be the last to come out and first to go into the Tacoma. It is just easier to manage it that way. 20220913_125121.jpg 20220913_125114.jpg

Here is a comparison shot to the front diff ADD vs Full time 4wd extension housings. I am going to swap the extension housing on to my rebuilt Tacoma front diff. I decided that 4.56 gears would be ideal on this A760F transmission. 20220913_125050.jpg

The idea here is that if you are swapping the engine in a vehicle, you don't need to recover and recharge the ac system, similar idea with the power steering. You just put the pumps off and leave the lines attached without opening either system. Doesn't matter though if you are moving the engine to a new vehicle.
