Most of these measurements are garbage, and it’s not entirely OP’s doing.

But for starters, as it has been repeatedly said, OEM shocks are absolutely NOT anything like 4600’s. Show me an OEM Tacoma shock with a 46mm body. They don’t exist.

The errors go on from there. I recently measured the OME 90021 against the 5100. The 5100 is only 1/16 of an inch longer.

I measured from the reduction of the shaft where the first washer sits to the center of the eye on each shock. See below.

OME and Bilstein apparently use different length inches. Bilstein doesn’t even use the same length inches between their own models, apparently using their dick measuring stick for the 5100s. If the 5100’s really had the >22.5” extended length they claim, you would need to run aftermarket UCAs to avoid major problems, and thousands of TW members here can attest that factory UCA’s work fine.

The OME was also half an inch longer than the 5100 at compressed length.

Bottom line: Never trust a manufacturer’s specs. They don’t use the same methodology for measurement, even internally.
