We can't properly tune this engine if we don't even know what the valve overlap is or where the cam is before we utilize the VVT-i

Yeah nope. I have 3.91. Looked up the stamped code in the diff. And it comes back to that. However the code on the inner truck door trim shows something different. So yeah right now its a mystery until I open it up

You can lift the rear wheels and turn them on revolution while counting the rotations of the driveshaft. Actually you don't really need to count them. You just need to mark the driveshaft (and reference point) and see if it comes up short of 4 revolutions (would indicate 3.91) or end past the reference mark (probably means 4.30).

I'm gonna end you to get the bottom of this either way. Not knowing is gonna drive me crazy.

Can someone with a 2.7 4x4 show me how this portion looks under your truck? It looks as if the driveshaft is going to touch the dipstick

It won’t. The diff is lower than you have it imagined there. I’ll send you a picture a bit later.

Began fitting for 35s yesterday. Removed flares and liners.
Noticed I have that strange extra air box inside the fender. It's gotta go for the snorkel. But why/what is it? Catch basin for water?
It connects to the intake 'horn' at the bottom, where it turns into the engine bay.

I believe it's a resonator for the intake. When combined with proper valve and ignition timing, it increases torque at low rpms (by increasing the scavenging effect iirc)

I took mine out and it didn't make a huge difference besides increasing intake noise slightly

    Ah, thanks for clarifying that!
It'll definitely be in the way of the snorkel. Looks like it would need at least a 1 1/2"+ plug to block it off.

Hopefully, the butt dyno feels better adding the snorkel combined with the LCE header. Or at least sounds cool

Feel weird being a 2wd manual guy in here lol. My diff ratio is 3.58 being an auto to manual converted truck. Also any news on OVtune?

We recently released beta support for the 2.7L 2016-17 3rd gen. 2nd gen is soon to follow.

but for ECUs that we don't have, you'd have to send it in for us to bench unlock.

How long do you need it? I have an ECU from a manual 2014 2.7

Figured I would add to this. I made a run to the beach this week which was a bit of 55-65 mph driving combined with a lot of 30-35 stop and go with all the traffic lights at the beach. Almost got 20 mpg and the tank was topped off more than the previous fill up so it might have been 20 mpg in reality. But comparing 6 fillups since I put the AFD CAI back on with the heat wrap to the same time frame last year with the stock airbox, CAI avg is 18.07 and stock airbox was 17.06 mpg. CAI high was 19.95 mpg and stock was 17.8 on mostly higher speed runs but both had traffic lights (same road actually) but I don't like comparing a single fillup since you can't verify top offs are the same. Same tires as well as everything else (truck actually has more weight now with the rollbar but not a big difference) so it seems to be a pretty even comparison. I think I have a little more highway on the CAI this year but I've never had a true all highway fillup either way so I'm sure it would pull down 20+ if I did. It looks like the CAI is worth .75 to 1 mpg over the stock airbox and with the heat wrap, the temps were only 2-4 degrees different while moving. My guess is that the straighter/smoother airflow does make a difference. As we get into the colder weather, I'm sure the difference won't be much with the winter gas but I'll keep an eye on it. I doubt there is any HP difference but for people who drive longer distances daily, it might be worth it.
