    Hopefully its up to the challenge, this has been a good bit of work.

    I thought that the stock spring clamp style fitting allowed for some movement which is why i figured a flex was necessary. Looking forward to having this one wrapped up

    Hey everyone, I am late to the party on the 2tr performance side. I am curious if anyone here has a guess at what psi of boost is the stock motor good for? (Not one hit, talking long term).
    This motor is coming out because I fear her life has been ended early from abuse. Not from lack of oil changes because it actually looks good, but it appears the motor has eaten a large amount of dirt and she isn’t making good noises. I am planning to rebuild it. I was planning a stock rebuild and eventually I will be putting a turbo on it. Just trying to figure how much boost I should target so I can get a properly sized turbo.

    Not sure what that dark discoloration means on the cyl 4 intake cam but cyl 4 did have the lowest compression so maybe no surprise there.A2E9D31A-1AB0-4C53-9501-18FF3D77F188.jpg

    Edit: also wondering if you guys delete the balance shafts or just leave them alone?

    On the built and balanced engines, people remove the balance shafts and install the LCE balance shaft delete kit.

    Balance shaft delete all the way. If you need a set of cams I may have a spare set I could part with. I'll have to double check that though since I'm planning on getting a custom grind on one set at least.

    Edit: as for boost capabilities, I seem to remember reading somewhere that the factory Ecu will compensate for like 4-5 lbs on its own, but I can't remember where I saw it or how accurate that info is. I know the fuel pump is a weak spot in the fuel system, it's very common and necessary to upgrade that.

    For sure! I appreciate the offer! I think I will just have the rebuilder get everything, that way if anything goes wrong it's on him.

    That sounds about right but I do imagine it probably runs a little lean at 5 psi. I am familiar with the crappy fuel pump, I upgraded it in my v6 taco I'll do the same for this baddy. I Noticed a lot of the aussie guys slap in an aftermarket adjustable fuel pressure regulator too when adding a turbo. I was thinking maybe increasing the pressure by boost referencing the FPR on the stock ecu may work. Fingers crossed hptuners adds support for the 2tr soon :fingerscrossed:

    If you have access to a MIG welder or TIG welder, add some beads over theirs, at the merge.

    Would you happen to know of anywhere that has just the mounting part of the manifold? THe part that goes to the head I cannot remember what it's called. I noticed most manifolds don't have the holes for the SAIS which I think I need.
