Is there any installs for a 2.7 Trans cooler on here?

Does anyone know if it’s alright to change the head bolts out one by one so as to not have to remove the head from the truck? I’d like to throw some ARP ones on it if possible

I would think you'd run the risk of warping the head unfortunately. I can't say I've ever heard of somebody trying that either.

Super common. I've done it on a few of my friends 7.3 and 6.0 diesels for that exact reason. Never had a single issue on the 6 trucks we did. Removing one bolt doesn't run the risk of warping the head. If it did, then that head was done for before the bolt swap lol

The only thing that has me worried is the instructions say to chase the threads before install. Not sure how i'd do that with the head on the truck. Idk at this point it might we worth a gamble not to chase the threads and just throw some ARP bolts at it to see if i can get it to stop leaking.

This happened literally 5k miles after installing the blower on my old motor. Then 5k on the new one and same thing is happening again. I am starting to think the stock head gasket/hardware doesnt like 10lbs of boost. I am disappointed to say the least. Looks like an LCE built motor might be happening sooner rather than later

Just so you know lce is delayed on headstuds until late april. Basically forcing me to do a stock rebuild on my truck since I need it back up asap. Atleast they changed their website from saying ships in 1-2 business days now.

Thanks for the heads up. I got lucky and ordered a set 6 months ago and they've been sitting in a box. Just drove all around town trying to find an m11 x 1.25 thread tap. Waste of time, had to order it online. now i just need to figure out how to clean up the threads with the head on the truck. I think im gonna weld a ratchet wrench extension to the tap and then grease the threads. not sure what else to do

Use the right tool for the job? Literally sub-30 seconds on McMaster-Carr to find it.

Same happened on my friend's 2TR. Once the boost was removed, no more problem. Lifting the head juuuuuuuust enough.

His was running 11-13, until the used Rotrex blew.

Swap them out 1 by 1. Just have to make absolutely sure the threads are clean, in the block. Acetone, brake clean, alcohol, and an air compressor to blow it all out.

I always torque the studs to 80 in-lbs, to make sure they are uniform. Before installing the nuts.

Is the oem headgasket the best one for the 2tr? I tried searching for a cometic one but I cannot find one.

Does LCE have anything? Does the 3rz Cometic exist and work?

I believe since the head is different the 3rz gasket won’t work. I didn’t see anything from lce that specifically said it was an upgrade from oem.

I'm definitely interested in hearing about upgraded head gaskets if you are able to track some down

How different are the undersides of the heads?

They built @MrCrowntown 's 2TR. They should be with that information.

As far as I remember from tearing down the last 2tr (still sitting in my basement...) it already has an mls gasket from factory which should be sufficient for high boost with ARP studs. (I think...)

I compared the 3rz and 2tr headgaskets at some point last night. The part sealing the cylinders and coolant paths are very similar, how ever there are some differences and the 3rz seems to have another section that the 2tr gasket doesnt have. I suppose the biggest issue in our situation is the TTY head bolts. Sadly arp is super behind on getting them cranked out. For my situation I need the motor built asap, and I am not gonna put all nice upgraded parts and leave out head studs so I am just going to do stock stuff. Sucks but @BassAckwards after you get your 2nd motor built if you want to ditch your stock motor let me know your price so I can build it once parts are available again? :D
