Here's their response when I emailed Red Line:

Thank you for contacting Red Line Oil, in your Toyota transmission the MT-90 would be recommended, suitable for use with higher mileage on the transmission. The MT-90 would likely provide a little better shiftability overall than the 75W90NS and the basis for our recommendation.

Definitely sounds like the clutch is still engaged for some reason, probably try bleeding the slave cylinder and like you said get one of the camera things to look inside there. Also could jack up the back and see if you can spin the wheels by hand with the clutch pushed but itll take 3 people to do that.

I had a somewhat similar problem with a 240sx. The pivot fork had debris lodged at the point of the pivot ball causing the tob to be out of position. I cleared the jam and the problem cleared up.

I just spoke with David at Southbend clutches, and he said they can offer a stage 3 clutch for the 2tr. The price for a stage 3 street clutch is 719 and for the stage 3 endurance clutch it would be 799. He also said for no extra charge they could do a dual friction material on the stage 3 endurance to bring the torque holding up to about 550 ft lbs. That would be a Kevlar and ceramic mix. The limiting factor on this stage 3 clutch is that the higher strength pressure plate from exedy is currently out of stock. I didn't think to ask which flywheel would need to be run with that clutch, but I'm sure that could be easily found out. The stage 3 isn't listed as an option on their website for our truck, hence me having to call them.

I'm much happier with the 799 quote for a dual friction clutch over clutchmasters 2700 quote for a dual disc one off clutch.

Can you see the slave cylinder move the clutch fork when your press the clutch in?

Yes, I can see the slave piston move the clutch fork. Pretty sure my TOB is toasted and won't come off the pressure plate fingers. It's now trying harder than ever to pull the truck while the clutch is pressed, and I def have to start in gear if I expect to drive it. Same goes for changing direction fwd >< reverse. Stop and start.

I'm contacting LCE to see what they have to say. Highly doubt I qualify for anything warranty (35k miles or so on the clutch kit) but I just want their opinion on what may have happened and why. I'll pay for something I fucked up. Car-part.com makes finding a second flywheel easy so I'll pick one up and have it resurfaced and throw it on.
Trans has to come out to get to the TOB, so may as well replace the pressure plate and flywheel hardware, pilot bearing, while I'm in there. Assuming my disc and pressure plate are still in working condition. I do have my OEM stuff in case I need to put it back in.

Bright side, I'm getting good at rev matching up and down shifts I reckon, with little to no actual clutch (yes, I press the pedal when shifting)

just picked up 2014 2.7 taco single cab. love the truck but I do wish it dropped gear a bit easier coming from 2nd into 3rd, and that I had a bit more responsiveness from the pedal. I know I could get a pedal commander but I could accomplish the same thing and much more (earlier downshifting) with a good tune. Sadly I’ve looked all around these forums and can’t find anything for my model

Sadly, no ready-made tunes for the 2nd Gen 2.7 yet. You've got an auto, the "fix" for pep in its step is a manual transmission.
At the end of the day, it's a ~4k lb truck with a 160hp with a tailwind. LCE Performance has recently made some leaps and bounds for the 2TR far as go fast parts, internals and such.

As sluggish as my truck has been at moments throughout my ownership, absolutely no way in hell would I put an auto behind the 2.7.

What does anyone in here know about the LCE supercharger rumor?

I heard of this rumor over a year ago.. but nothing has come about yet. There is one person on here Silverback or something similar that has it. Looked like a non-intercooled roots blower similar to those used on the 2rz/3rz

there was also some rumors about magnuson doing something supercharger for the 2tr-fe but it's been dead quiet for more than a year. Been keeping my fingers crossed since the 3.5L s/c for the 3rd gen is carb legal then I would hope that the 2tr fe kit would be as well since I'm in california. As tempting as going with urd's kit is, I rather not deal with the legalities (or lack thereof) when it comes to living in this state.

Yeah it seems everytime some company or shop thinks about doing something for the 2tr Fe we are all like, "omg yes! Do it! We can get like...maybe five people to buy your product!!!"

Which I think ends up working against us sometimes :bananadead:
