I called URD. He was pretty helpful with specific things to look for. Gadget is confident that the bottom end should not of let go at that level unless I was having some serious issues. Oil starvation etc. but once the top comes off well see if there was any knock or leaning out.

I had zero issues with it honestly prior to putting a trailer behind it. It would always rocket forward or spin the 35s... i really think putting the power up against a wall accelerated the break point

Very interesting, yeah it's like towing put the motor under significantly higher load or something and it wasn't happy. Hopefully you're able to get it sorted relatively easily. Sorry to hear of your troubles man, that is never good news

I wonder if URD tested their tune towing?

I would assume so but im not sure. With a dyno you could definitely replicate a towing scenario. I might also be the only one that really pours the coal with a 4 banger and a trailer. But if it isnt safe i gotta make it safe. Hopefully it just needs forged internals.

I hear ya! I was hoping for some too. Wont think twice with the forged internals

Does anyone have a 3rd gen 2.7L 5 speed stock shifter they'd be willing to sell?

Does the 3rd gen 2.7 have the inverted filter on the passenger side like the 2nd gens?

4CBC40BC-A06C-46AB-985F-5763A14FD7C7.jpg Does anyone with the 2TR run the AFE midpipe ? I haven’t found too much discussion on it. It looks to be slightly larger in diameter but can I expect much noise if I keep a factory muffler/rear section which is my intent.

Previous owner had the cats cut out and straight sections welded in. It sounds terrible, raspy under acceleration with some drone. CEL is lit up. I decided to buy one to compliment the LCE header I also ordered. I’m looking forward beefing up and dropping the torque curve.

I havent but i have had my cats out for awhile before the engine scattered and i can say keeping the cats unless you plan to go full racecar is a good move. I went from the LCE header with all factory exhaust (which was super torquey) to 2.5” full mandrel bent exhaust with a resonator and muffler and the torque benefit of the header was lost with the bigger exhaust in my application. So if it was even close to a stock setup id say go for it. It will more than likely give you the torque curve your looking for.

I’m thinking if I do have to replace the rear section I’ll go custom. The 5x9x15” (Vibrant) 2.25” is what I’m thinking. That should work better with how my 2.7 is set up.

The AFE pro dry drop in seems to work well and I will also pick up a intake spacer soon.

I think the 2.25” is way better than the 2.5” if your staying N/A. I noticed an immediate drop in torque upsizing the exhaust .25”
