In this photo, we had the vacuum routed to the incorrect port on the wastegate. It has since been changed to the front or top port.

Points of interest about the truck.

It is heavily loaded down with tools, as it is a work truck. Needed more low rpm torque/power, for the weight, and towing.

OEM gears, and 4x4, on OEM spec tires.

Running I believe an 850 CCM 5th injector.

Tune has not yet been changed since the Rotrex was working and then failed.

Has an LCE 6 puck clutch, with the lightweight flywheel or regular flywheel(pretty sure lightweight). Used to have the heavy flywheel. Performs significantly better this way.

The exhaust is 3" and reduces down to 2.5" under the cab. Post cat.

The acceleration in the video was not WOT, at take off according to the driver. Said it was about 3/4 throttle, then WOT once into 2nd.

Here is the correct routing. We added a turbo blanket, as well as wrapped the down-pipe with at least half overlap of 2" wide wrap. You can see part of it resting next to the intake coupling.

    20220117_172727.jpg

These worm gear clamps weren't holding well. They were replaced with T-bolt clamps. The remaining few may be changed in the future.

Another Rotrex took a crap?  :pout: It’s why I didn’t want to drive mine & only had 2k miles in a year then sold it plus I couldn’t wait to sell it fast enough!

Could you do me a large favor and remove the placards? :hattip:

Also what about ceramic coating the manifold & down pipe? That stuff really works for some reason.

The turbine house came ceramic coating. Normally that stuff works very well. For some unknown reason this was already flaking off after a few test runs. The owner is going to contact them about that.

The placard is completely up to him. However, it is beneficial because it shows how relatively easy that this integrated with their system.

I doubt it, but he may end up ceramic coating the down-pipe.

His truck was purchased used with the URD kit. After a year or so, he came over with it making a terrible noise. That was the day that we turned it back to N/A and waited until the time was right.

As of a two weekends ago, the aluminum from that rotrex has been melted into an aluminum pyramid ingot. :D

I'm gonna try to have the stuff in the engine bay currently wrapped or shielded by the time i come down, then we can focus on the plumbing while i'm there

Almost forgot, i got some 2" wrap for the downpipe as well

I found that using heat sleeve on the water lines was crucial, after popping up 2 of them. I also got rid of the rubber coolant lines for some stainless braided ones, for even better heat resistance over the turbine housing.

I do have my downpipe wrapped in DEI heat wrap, which also made a considerable difference in underhood temps. You can see the coolant lines going into the heat sleeve in this pic:

Looks good Joe, I will be doing stainless braided ptfe hose for my plumbing as well, so hopefully between that and the sleeve, temps will be minimized

You should be good to go. Ever since I did that, I haven't had an issue. I'm going on 4yr and 55k miles now since boosting!

Stock computer & fueling, on a 7psi WG spring only.
Only major issues I had were my cat going bad (replaced with the URD power pipe...cats can't go bad if they're not there!), and I was eating ignition coils for a while (all because of the cat).

    Otherwise it's been relatively complaint-free!

Pretty certain that the coolant lines, from the TB source, are 5/16". Not 3/8, as I had suspected, before getting in there. There are 5/16 adapter barb fittings, or whatever you choose to adapt those lines to the -6AN (3/8") from the turbo.

i do have some barb to -4an fittings that i'll be using for this temporarily to tie into the coolant lines. I am going to replumb everything in -6an eventually, but for now i'm gonna try to make the -4an stuff i bought work.

Thanks man! Torspd showed me the blanket and then i stumbled on that, and had to have it so everything matches. Its a nice alternative to using the gold tape if you can stomach the price lol
