2TR-FE Performance Thread

Just got a message from a friend saying they found a 2tr motor in their shops grass and asked if I wanted it. Free motor! It's obviously been there for awhile and has internal issues since it was left to become a lawn ornament. I'll tear it down and see what's saveable, maybe the block and head if I'm lucky. The cams if I'm really lucky. If they are, they'll be perfect candidates for getting sent out for a custom cam grind.

A little cleaning and machining work, and that could be a really good engine. Depending. Really curious about the tear-down.

 

I run the pro 7 and don't have any complaints. Should probably pull it out and clean it since it's been awhile.

 

Dang, wish I could find a project 2TR growing in the weeds. So random

 

I'll be the first to admit I don't have the finances to build two motors. If somebody has the ambition to come get this one from me, I'll strap it to a pallet and pass it on. It'll just have a disclaimer tag on it that it was left in a shops side yard for years for a reason, and I don't know that reason.

 

I'll be available in 18 months to build 2TRs

Anyone know if there's a coupon or TW discount available on the LCE equal length header. It used to be $500, but it's priced at $650 now. I'm sure it's a fair price but I'm just making sure I don't miss something.

There's 2 lce headers 650 long tube and 550 street header.
Any idea on difference? Want that low torq! Does say 10% off 7/28-7/29 on lce fb page, no coupon needed, but it isnt taking off at checkout for me

 

Get the equal length/long tube one. That’s the difference, one is equal length primaries and the other is unequal lengths. If you want low end torque, the long tube equal length version is what you are looking for

I got a text today from the GM of LCE, Magnuson has still NOT DELIVERED the blowers, any blowers to LCE for the 2TR FE system…
I’m beginning to think I just may have one of the only two on any vehicle…
Hmmm wondering what the system might be worth? I wouldn’t mind going to exhaust powdered boost or a aluminum 5.3 GM power plant w/ Tremec 5 spd.

 

I'll take your header. I'll even do the labor to switch out the exhaust systems when you're ready.

 

What is the hp increase from the LCE long tube?

 

I will be making a T3 manifold in the coming weeks. For an internal wastegate setup. Actually going to start working on it later today. For anyone interested.

 

Let me make sure my TD05H 16g turbski is a t3 before I say yes. But I'm definitely putting my hand up for it if it is.

 

Found this turbo manifold on ebay. They also have a T2 version. They claim to be tig welded and machined flat. Are they different than the alibaba/chinese manifolds? Any chance the turbo placement clears the AC lines better?
