I just did this mod on my 2012. The wires needed are the same as the op but in the other harness. Works great no problems at all

Everything on the op stays the same the only difference is the wires are located in the plug closer to the cab on the 4wd ecu. Works the same way flip switch turn to four low without front locked. Make sure you cut the smaller green wire it's also a light green compared to the othe I'll try and take some pics tomorrow.

For those that have done this mod - have you noticed that if you're in 2Lo, and you shut off the engine, when you restart the truck, it goes into 4Lo? I noticed this twice while I was moving my camper earlier today. Was in 2Lo, shut off the engine to fiddle with the hitch, started the truck back up and when I moved it, the front tires were scrubbing like it was in 4Lo. Since I was on concrete, I couldn't really dump the clutch to see if only the back tires would spin. But I'm pretty sure it had "converted over" to 4lo... Just something to consider, if you've done this mod.

Just read the wiring explanation! If you kill power, you will have to go back to 2 hi, throw your switch, then back to 4(2) lo! In that order!

    Just a guess!
    I gotta do this!

I'm no electrical engineer, but I think you're right - based on my real-world experience.

Is you 2Lo switch hot 24/7 or only when the ignition is on? I'll have to test this with mine. Mine is hot 24/7.

I think mine is on a switched-hot circuit.

I just tested it again when I backed my camper into my driveway, and I can say for sure that it kicks back to 4Lo when/if you shut off the engine and re-start it.

I have found it to be MUCH more useful that I originally though it would be (and I thought it would be useful).

I used the same power that runs the 4x4 CPU to power my switch and relays. Mine does not rest after turning off. I used it to back my camper in the other day turned truck off left it for two days, fired it up and still in 2 low . I even drove around the yard to make sure.

I need to go back through this thread and assemble a parts list. It's stupid that I haven't done this yet. Does anyone have a list to share? I'm about to start towing my camper for hunting quite a bit and I use 4lo to back up a lot, when 2lo would be the better choice.

How about locking the rear differential in 2WD for better burnouts and snow drifting? I'm not kidding either.. 2015 TRD-Off Road here!
