Reality check. 95% of Tacoma owners will never want to climb a hill like that and 99.999% will never NEED to.

    P.S. Nice bumper!

I'm a smart ass because I complimented the bumper or because I simply pointed out the reality that most people will never find themselves in such a demanding location? (BTW it was Silverback that started his post with "reality check")

Sorry Silver, as sweet as that looks I don't have use for it. For the record I'd never claim that a 4x2 will hang with a 4x4 in extreme situations.

I have to agree with my 2WD Brothers. In my opinion, the driver makes the truck, the truck does not make the driver.

Looked like it was enough to stop the 2WD's to me thus supporting my reasons for not having ever (and not intending to ever) claim that a 2WD is able to go everywhere a 4WD can. :D

I don't consider racing during January with an 18kt breeze and a 10 degree wind chill on 28 degree water extreme as long as the ice around the yacht club is thin enough to break through to get the boats out. Most people don't seem to agree but that's all a matter of opinion, experience and some might say lack of sanity. But as per my earlier statement most people would never want to and almost no one actually needs to sail in those conditions. :stirthepot:

My 2WD gets 25mpg and ran 26k new. Can a 4WD do that?

Seriously though, you buy your truck for what you need it for. Off-road = 4WD. Street = 2WD. Prerunner = Gulf coast storms ain't no joke.

I'd try that hill in my Prerunner.

I know my truck isn't gonna go everywhere a 4x4 will. Doesn't mean I'm not gonna wheel it or enjoy it. Besides, this truck will only be 2wd until I get the guts up to try and get a manual FJ T case to work on the Taco and do a 4x4 conversion.. But thats years down the road.

If I could do it over again, I woulda bought a 4x4.
