    Plugged in the Boom Slang yesterday ran a vacuum line to the FIC

    Truck started and died
    Plugged in the bypass harness to the FIC , truck started and die.
    Plugged the ECU back to stock, truck runs as normal

    Am I missing something?

    You need a different harness. Also why are you running different injectors? The stock ones are fine especially if you are running the 7th inj Kit. I’m running almost 10psi with no problems.

    Incorrect.
    3rd gens are able to flash and it's ~$750.

    OVTune has still not figured out how to/ which later 1st gen ECUs are tunable, but the latest information is ONLY the Sep 2002-2004 5VZ with the iECTS, commonly incorrectly referred to as the "fly-by-wire" throttle.

    All these trucks for whatever reason act differently and need a different solution.

    I replaced my fuel pump and MAF with new OEM parts and this changed my fuel trims and fuel needs.

    I’m running 10.4 pounds of boost 2” pulley and now only need the methonal spraying above 7 pounds of boost with the smallest nozzle while before I was spraying with a 3 nozzel and from 3.5 pounds up.

    After replacing those two items the truck barely needs any fuel enrichment with the 2” pulley and zero ping issues.
    So I don’t need a high flow fuel pump or larger injectors.

    Ping issues, lean issues can be caused by
    Carbon build up
    Weak fuel pump
    Fuel filter
    Fuel regulator
    02 sensor
    Exhaust leak
    Vacuum leak
    Dirty injectors
    Bad MAF

    Etc

    If I’ve learned one thing about these trucks in all the miles I’ve driven
    is if there is one thing that’s out of sync it effects the bottom line of how the truck runs.

    Watching your fuel trims is a good way to monitor your fuel health and ECU dance

    Boomslang ran a diagnostic and discovered one of the pins was pushing it out and not connecting to the ECU

    They corrected it and are sending it back to me

    Thanks for that info, is tuning the same? I know the 02 sensor on the 2000 forward ECU gives more
    info than the 1997 ECU specifically the 97 ECU doesn’t give an air fuel ratio from the O2 sensor.
    I do have a stand alone one tho

    The tuning is the same but the older Tacomas have a narrowband O2, the 2000-04 have a wideband.
    Also the settings are set up a little differently on the FIC6 due to the different O2 readings.

Replaced stock radio with a Pioneer AVH series head unit. Focal component system w/a 10" sub powered by 2 Alpine amps. Weathertech floor mats. Line-X'd the bed. SCS Ray 10’s, Installed an A.R.E. MX series camper shell. All-Pro Apex front bumper w/ All-Pro skid plates all the way back to the Trans. Low Range fuel skid plate.
