Going to put a new alternator on tomorrow, so I was surveying the old one:

I don't want to break this old plug! Where do I squeeze or pry to release it? The new one shows the catch right under where that T-shape is on the side of the plug. You can see the catch on the new one here:

I think you just squeeze the tab on the wire end of the connector. Sometimes that connector is right up against the metal cover which makes it hard to wiggle it free. If that's the case, you can loosen the nuts that hold the back cover of the alternator on which will free up the cover and allow you to wiggle the connector off.

Are you upgrading or is the old one broken?

Upgrading to 140 amp, and doing the Big 3 at the same time.

I'll loosen those bolts before trying to pull the plug...

Got the plug out using small channel lock pliers, so the oem alternator is out. Spent the afternoon making new battery and alternator cables.

"New" cables for the 140 amp alternator. Alternator to 150 amp circuit breaker, CBreaker to battery, Negative cable from battery to engine, ground cable from engine to chassis: #4 marine cable to get the full benefit of the 140 amp alternator. Old cables will still be there.

Saw this hydraulic crimper (14 to 0 wire) for $40 at Harbor Freight:

So far, it's the cats meow for crimping the battery lugs.
