Hot weather isn't gonna help, either. I usually go pretty easy on the throttle during the really hot days of summer (100˚+).

In the coldest days of winter up in the mountains I can hardly make it ping even if I try to

I still have the ping. Even with Lucas octane boost in the tank. Very annoying.

Its a timing issue. You either need a way to retard the timing in that RPM range or start shotgunning parts and hope it fixes itself.

MAF, fuel reg, fuel pulp, injectors, plugs, crank sensor. Etc.

Like the AEM piggyback tuner. Just to tweak timing.

I have, just aem and SC, runs fine. It should be good to run even up to the 2.2 pulley. (As long as your fuel pump, injectors, and fuel filter is in good working order.) Hardest part is getting the wiring right. The boomslang harness I got had one incorrect wire that I had to correct and then it started working perfectly. Either way, I would suggest getting an AFR gauge. Once you get the aem working, you can also fix afrs by adding fuel as well if you want.

If you wanted to go to a smaller pulley than 2.2, You will either need octane booster(not sure this would work though) or water/meth or larger injectors.

Just cut off one tab, you probably have a manual trans right? on the bracket you have, one is for the throttle, and the other i believe for the transmission.

The brackets are sold in kits, so.... make one or buy the kit, every little stupid part is in a kit if you by from URD.

The cable doesn't line up correctly. I'm running the wrong one now. But i'd like it to be correct.
Don't want to buy the kit. That's why i'm asking.
I have an 04 auto with electronic throttle body.
