You don’t worry about water hitting EVERYTHING? I wouldn’t want water getting on any electrical stuff and bolts greatly increasing the chances for corrosion.

If I do this it’s going to be right over and behind the fan shroud and because its the most effective place to pull air while at speed and for hot air to be pushed out by the fan.

not much water gets in unless you intentionally spray it in. louvers are pointed backwards. I chose to put them where I did because I felt It looked good and the air would come in the grill and out pulling air across the supercharger before going out

I was wondering myself but the standalone isn't a modification of the ECU, it's a piggyback...so wouldn't we be ok? I'm not totally sure how the testing works

The people who are really going to hurt are all the 3rd gens who got the OVTune ECU tunes.

Worst case we'll just have to disable the 7th for the test I guess?

I have a smog test coming up in a couple months so I guess I'll find out. Hopefully someone can figure it out for sure, cause if you fail once you get flagged and they go over you with a fine tooth comb after that to cover their ass

They won’t be able to tell. The stock ECU doesn’t know you have a piggyback.

They’re looking for all kind of numbers that should be the same from the factory. Supposedly these are numbers and I’ds are generated based on the tune. Very difficult if not impossible to spoof.

Also, some of these ECUs have a counter for the number of times it’s been flashed.

I remember OVTune was trying to make a flash for 1st gens but kept saying it was impossible to crack our ECUs or something. I think he got close with the 01-04s but shifted focus to his 3rd gen TT kits

Then he got banned from TW so who knows lol

Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

This is pretty much what I was thinking. The ECU itself itself isn’t changed.
The data it receives is changed.

    Well, fuck.

I decided to take the pulley off to take a look. This is what It was looking like with the other seal but with the old one I would of had way more oil everywhere under the hood, leaking down the snout, etc.

I used superlube to grease the seal. If you’re familiar with superlube it melts pretty easily. So hopefully that’s just the superlube. But that color says otherwise.

I’m my case it’s the shaft that’s giving me a hard time. That seal seemed to fit tighter on the shaft than the OD so I’m not sure what’s going on.

Who the hell knows dude. Im very skeptical of OVtune with the way everything went on. It just seems bizarre.

I don’t know if anyone ever even got that TT kit working or not. I know MESO blew his engine and sold the kit. Ive seen a few other kits go up for sale as well. I don’t think there’s any 3rd gens active here that are running the kit either.

That being said every time OV commented he basically said “we can do it” and but ever time someone posted a ECU ID number they said “not possible” but never clarified anything further and never followed up as far as the first gens went.

maybe if OV never did the TT kit and just focused of software everything would have turned out better and we would have had a way to tune.

I go in for smog check next month. will I have to unplug my 7th Injector so they don't see it functioning? the place I use to smog is super strict now from being caught cheating multiple times. last time I smogged they could not see the #'s on. I had to my cats because of the skidplates covering the numbers on the cats. I had to uncover before they smogged

I've talked to a few people on here smarter than me that have said the 7th controller should not be an issue. As long as it's hidden of course. But they won't be able to know it's there based on reading the ECU.

The 7th kit in general is not CARB legal so just make sure it's not visible when they do the visual check. I wrapped the steel braided fuel line in the engine bay with black electrical tape 4 years ago and have passed smog twice with the kit installed now. Just looks like any other vacuum line.

The piggyback controller is tucked up inside my glove box

I don’t live in CA so I have no experience. But the 7th alters the “tune” ONLY under boost unless it’s setup incorrectly.

Shouldn't need to unplug it, I left mine installed. Then again it depends on the person doing the visual and how well versed they are in the stock setup look.

I go to the same guy every time and it's a quick in/out process these days. I was sweating bullets the first time I took it in though lol

Yeah and in CA, only 2000 model years and older have to get put in the dyno for testing. 2001+ is just a visual inspection and OBDII check
