Yep. Unless it’s $500-1000 it’s not a good deal with the cost and hassle of sourcing all the parts to install and possibly have to rebuild amor fix further.

I would meet up, look it over intensely and then offer $500. If there is any hesitation, walk away. Not worth the risk and paying more in the end than buying new.

Have him pull the rotor pack and send some pics of them. Also the inside of the case were the rotors spin. I picked up mine for $750 with everything but the dipstick bracket. It has like new rotors in it.

ive heard horror stories on used super chargers. A buddy of mine bought one from one of his buddies and melted a piston. On something like this, I’d rather buy the truck with a supercharger than an a la carte supercharger used.
I had a black 2004 Manual Tranny and these trucks always ping if you don’t rev first gear up before second. This was before and after S/C. So it seems like that’s a given. How many miles have you driven since 2015 with the S/C?

If the seller is willing (and you're up for it), you could remove the nose drive and rotors to see how they look. If not, at least rotate the shaft and look for anything other than quiet and smooth rotation.

I bought a supercharger that was rebuilt. Well, they put new bearings and put it back together with rotors that are complete toast. A full rebuild with new rotors and re-coat the bore is more than $1200. That plus the cost of the supercharger and I’m not all that far from buying a new one.
    I’d be very very skeptical.
This is what the rotors in mine look like.

Yeah, I shoulda spent more time checking it out. I was short on time and excited.
Im going to send it off to high speed lab for a full rebuild at some point. Maybe next spring.

Edit: I want to weld the cooked rotors together end to end and encase then in epoxy and make a lamp out of them.

That would be a cool lamp. It’s easy to get excited with this mod. It really makes it a new truck. Im still excites and absolutely can’t lay off the gas. Sometimes when I’m cruising, I have to push the gas to make sure it’s still there :)

The bore has some light scoring. It’s not enough to catch a fingernail when you drag it over it.
    A re
Hmmm...this might be a better route. The supercharger appears to have new bearings and a new coupler. I know it also needs a new bypass valve. I'll have to take a closer took to see what else it needs.
$572 for new rotors and a bypass valve beats $1200+ for a full rebuild.
I was going to re-gear and rebuild the supercharger but I just spent $3500 on surgery co-pays and deductibles. I need better health insurance. This is going to have to wait a little bit.

hang in there. It’s tough. But always works out. The photo is my elbow last October. I crushed it. I passed out and didn’t breathe for about a minute and a half. I saw a light and ran the other way :) After surgery and all that, I just said F it. YOLO.

Of course not. That was an off-road golf cart race at an RV park. We we losing so I jumped out to reduce the weight of the cart and forgot I was wearing Sandles and didn’t roll right like I would normally. Basically a fun stunt turned bad. It is funny. LOL.

OUCH damn to crush your elbow like that you must have hit it hard. I've fallen straight on my elbow before playing hockey once without wearing elbow pads like I was supposed to (landed right on my elbow on the solid ice), that was over 10 years ago now and to this day it still hurts if I touch it in just the right spot. Never went to the doctor but looking back I probably should have lol.

I once jumped a fence wearing sandals and broke the bottom of my foot (apparently you can do that)...sandals don't mix well with anything but walking around

They don’t. I had the right doctor though. I got full motion. That doctor is in your hood by the way. He was in Orange Cali. BTW I used to work in Monrovia in 2004. It’s a cool place over there.
