3.4L supercharger

Just finished putting a new coat of paint on the new rebuild today,
Should be back running tomorrow

 

I can already tell you they don’t give a fuck. If they did care about their work they would have put a stop on the sheer number of orders showing up to focus on putting out quality work.

 

I believe I paid $1500 for a full rebuild and brand new rotor pack from magnuson. Turn around time was a week and a half. Came with a 1 year warranty on the work too. So far I'm a very happy customer.

Edit: Also communication they have with their customers is top notch.

 

Supercharger went on today!
Hopefully I get 100k out of the rebuild by Jon Bond instead of one year from high speed lab.
She Sounds perfect and putting an extra pound of boost over the previous rebuild.

I have a SC’d 3.4 that I am looking to drop into a early toyota project with a non efi tank. I am going to have to run a external fuel pump. I spent a bunch of time searching threads and only found info on internals. Anyone have a specific make/model that you have used reliably? I am used to running externals on donestic v8s(carbed) and understand mounting proximity to tank and inline filter. At this point I am think about going with a Walbro 255 external with 60psi.

 

Anyone try one step cooler plugs? Considering trying some dual coppers. Got two steps cooler ruthenium in now and I think they get slightly fouled judging by past spark plug appearance. That and the 5vz eats up the gap on the single grounds fairly quickly.

 

Do you have the ruthenium 7s? I think Jon installed the 6s. @1997tacomav6

 

Yes. The 7s right now. Would be going to a 6 in the ruthenium or copper twin ground

 

The fr5bhx is for non supercharged motor.
6 would be 1 step cooler
7 would be 2 steps cooler,

I have the FR7BHX AND no issues,
Love them,
Need to put some miles in them to see how they do long term

 

I have a question about exhaust bungs for wideband sensors. I apologize if this already been covered somewhere in this thread.

The Haltech 2000 kit from Gabe at SNP comes with a wideband sensor and bung. Also the Innovate PSB-1 Boost/A/F gauge kit also comes with a sensor and bung.

Is the correct way to do this to install both bungs and sensors or can the data stream from one sensor be shared by both the Haltech and the Innovate gauge?

 

Possibly, you would have to rewire them and I don’t know if running two gauges would change things.
But you might be able to run one,
I think running two sensors would be better tho having both the info in case one fails.

With two separate sensors you would be able to catch a failing 02 sensor.
With one you would not.
The correct way to guarantee no issues is just to weld the bungs next to each other and keep them separate

I guess the next question is, does orientation matter? Which one should be first in line (upstream)?

Left is the Innovate bung, the one from Haltech is on the right.

 

Will not matter, I have the innovative 1st and haltech 2nd,

are you making the move to the Haltech?
My truck has never run so well ( perfect tune all the time) with the haltech!!

it’s a game changer for a perfect tune!
But it definitely takes time to get it tuned correctly and work out the bugs.

I still have to schedule a finial tune with Gabe to get the two maps fine tuned.
One map with methanol, one map without with a switch on the fly.

here is a Dyno graph I took with my camera when I was getting mine tuned when it was 100 degrees outside.
The two graphs show the stock dyno,bottom and the haltech, top graph.
You can see a nice difference here between the two.

truck wasn’t running correctly here and had to get the 340 AEM fuel pump installed and then it was running too rich.

hopefully I can get a new dyno in January when everything is finally perfect.

I meetup with Bruce over the weekend who got his haltech too and has an auto.

He’s just getting his installed but has to get the new fuel pump in 1st
