    could be a worn coupler. id take the nose cone off and check it out. mine did sound like that when my rotor pack was shot. then it ate into the case within a month

    It looks like the previous owner was using the venom to add more fuel for the supercharger instead of a 7th injector or methanol. It also looks like you are running a smaller pulley for more boost. without a better fuel delivery method I'm sure youd be lean at a higher rpm. Ive never seen one of those venoms but I found this about it when I searched. :


    The Venom 400 Sets TPS to 75% at about 35% and increases progressively from there according to my laptop. Adds an offset voltage to your TPS so even though your actual throttle is at 35% your car is believing harder acceleration (your true throttle is not effected air in remains the same/ fuel amount increases). This is not a bad way to gain some lost hp due to the terrible ecofriendly factory settings.



    I also think you need to look into buying the denso or gm knock sensors since the truck is throwing the knock sensor codes. I knew my knock sensors were bad when everytime i hit 3500rpm it would throw me into limp mode cutting half the power instantly

    I emailed Gadget last month when I ordered mine and he said that as far as he knew, Magnuson just did a few like that when they ran out of the normal nose shafts.

    TY, got in there this weekend, knock sensors were OEM replacements and looked new. Harness was replaced with an EBay find. Replaced the sensors and harness with Toyota one. Put all back together with stock plenum, no codes, running good actually. I do have a bit of where in the hell should these vacuum lines REALLY go problem going on but seems to be running fine 2 days in a row now. Thinking I’m going to sell the charger. I think this truck will just be a little local hauler, probably won’t wash it much, etc.

    Yes, it's a press on design.

    I spoke with Magnuson about this today. Basically, they took no responsibility for this. The guy I spoke with said that URD must have ordered it wrong. Then he asked why I wanted to change the pulley. I told him I wanted to run a smaller pulley and there weren't any 2.2" (or 2.1, 2.0 or 1.8s either) in the press on design. He then went into his spiel about how they only sell CARB legal products and that undersized pulleys are illegal.

    I did reach out to Gadget about this. He suggested it may be possible to machine out one of his pulley to make it a press on. I am wondering if anyone has tried this.

    "we only sell CARB legal products" was a load of BS from them. The 3.4l supercharger from Magnuson was not CARB legal for many years until a few years ago. Only the TRD branded version was, same supercharger of course but they still sold their version of it without the CARB approval.

    Of course it's BS. This whole change in pulley design without a disclaimer is BS. Then to act like it's not their fault or problem is ridiculous.

    Great. The more of us using the Haltech the better it will be.
    I absolutely love the Haltech; runs like it came from the factory with a supercharger.

    The only issue I had was that it would take longer than normal to crank the engine on. I spoke to Gabe about it and he did a quick adjustment to the tune and all is well.

    I’m running the 2.1” pulley with gobs of power across the entire rpm range, and no pinging, even if I try to induce it. This is the solution to the supercharger fuel and timing issues we have been waiting for. The 7th injector piggyback is a joke of a fix compared to the Haltech.

    Sweet, I was wondering if start-up cranking time would be effected. I've seen some cars on standalones take forever to start so it was definitely a worry of mine. Even my dirt bike (which has an upgraded standalone ecu) takes much longer to start than with the stock ecu. I'm glad Gabe was able to get it sorted out for you.

    The Haltech runs a check that starts the fuel pump when the key is first switched to the ON position. Your supposed to wait for it to complete (3-4 second) before starting the engine.

    I had to get a new crankshaft sensor because the haltech didn’t like my high mileage sensor.
    The closest OEM crankshaft sensor was two states away,

    if you want your scan gauge to work Gabe has to wire that in.

    The haltech can be made as a piggy back or stand alone,
    Mine is a stand alone for 1997.
    I think the new the Tacoma is, it’s done as a piggy back.
    My check engine light I have to use my computer through the haltech to clear or see the codes.

    make sure u get a high flow fuel pump 340 or so and either bigger injectors or services the old ones,
    I was able to use my stock ones

    You will be very happy with the setup.
    My setup I was able to run my stock injectors and after they were cleaned,
    Gabe was able to tune it without methanol. But will probably get it added for summer heat.
    Get a 340 fuel pump,
    You can replace the MAF section if you want with a 3” section instead of the stock 2.5”,
    I’m running 5speed, 1.9” pulley because I’m at 6000 feet that nets about 8 pounds of actual boost even though the gauge says 12.
    If you didn’t see my dyno before and after here it is.
    I gained 62lbs of torque and 35hp more in the midrange where we drive most the time and raised the rpm’s a bit too. 250lbs torque at about 2100rpms.
    Perfect AFT numbers now regardless
    At 690,000 original supercharger miles the supercharger finally is running the best it ever has!
    Dyno is stock ECU ( BLUE) with methanol and haltech (RED) with no methanol
