    It was a special radiator that I had made with what is called EXTRUDED TUBE DESIGN,

    the aluminum is extremely thick and weighs around 35 pounds compared to the stock radiator at 10 pounds.
    It can handle any heat situation and keep the truck at 175-180 degrees and will probably outlive the truck

    More than I should have,
    but you should be able to have one made (not extruded) for around 600-700

    The bottom one, has a thick U channel all the way around and the top and bottom tanks are welded to the channel frame too

    The one thing that is not mentioned in that article is timing and pinging(pre-detanation)
    If your radiator has the cooling capacity to hold temps in the 170-180 range. You can run more timing. Which will increase the HP and torque. It's not about cooling the intake air charge as much as cylinder combustion temperatures. On a stock NA engine it's pretty much a waste to run a low temp t-stat.

    I’m thinking if you used a #3 nozzle this would eliminate the ping and or maybe lower the start

    I will be in the rabbit hole on Monday. I’ll be trying to get the install on the meth, pulley and AFR. I’ll document all this then I’m taking CO-83 from Colorado Spring all the way to Castle Rock. It’s about 35 miles all scenic and pretty much no stop lights or Police. Boom.

    Remember they will disconnect the battery for this install so the ECU will be reset and the motor will run crappy for another 300-500 miles while it leans the new setup

    I have a number #3 nozzle on order. The setup was to start spraying at 5pounds , but I switched it to 3 and it pings less. Somehow I have learned to keep the truck from pinging. I am getting closer to 20k on my setup and I will be changing the supercharger oil before winter hits just to keep things fresh

    I've learned that to virtually eliminate any pinging I have to make sure I don't go into boost under 2500k RPM. As long as I'm at that RPM (or higher) I can go wide open throttle and I won't get any ping, but if I'm under that (say, 2300k RPM) and I floor it, it will ping until the RPMs climb to 2500k. Kind of odd but at least it's comforting to know how to avoid it now lol.

    I usually shift around 3k - 3500k so that doesn't give me a lot of time in between shifts (not to mention I don't think my stock clutch likes high RPM shifts very much). But for now it seems to be the ticket for me to avoid ping.

    How do you stay out of boost under 2500rpms? Do you just go easy on the throttle below that?
    (I don't have a supercharger in my truck yet and just starting to learn)

    Yeah it's pretty easy, the only time I really "have" to go into boost is if I'm under heavy load like climbing a hill, in which case I keep it in a lower gear which puts me around 3k RPMs anyway. Cruising around town on the street it's easy to stay out of boost unless you want to be in it.

    If I find myself pinging for whatever reason it usually means I've shifted too early and need to downshift again to bring up the RPMs. I've gotten pretty good about making ~3200 RPM my average shift point so that it never really drops below 2500 if I need to be in that range

    And yeah, my gas mileage blows lol

    So, I'm planning on regearing soon. My truck is pretty fat and on 33" mud terrains. I'm thinking 4.88's over 4.56. That lower gearing would also help keep the rpms up and out of the ping zone. One more reason to go with 4.88's. I think, right?
    After that I gotta rebuild the supercharger I have and get it going.

    I would think so but I'm no expert on gearing. I'm still on the stock 4.10s that my truck came with, I think I could benefit from better gearing too though especially with 33s and the weight I carry regularly.

    Keep in mind that altitude plays a big role in this as well. I live near sea level (like 200ft) so I'm much more likely to experience ping under these described conditions than the guys that live at ~4k ft or higher elevation. When I'm going up into the mountains to go camping/wheeling I rarely ever hear any pinging.
