    With my new MAF installed today I’m 250 RPMs leas when in 5th gear going 75 mph. What’s up with that?

    I highly suggest you consider to get a new MAF if it’s old or aftermarket. The dyno is showing a quicker ECU response to go to open loop than the old MAF. I can go into boost at around 2200 RPMs are supposed to 2500 RPMs and my AFR is a lot better. It’s all about the MAF.

    Mine's about 3 years old, had it replaced shortly after I bought this truck because I was getting a lean code (turned out to be something else but the dealership put a new OEM MAF in as one of their first fixes).

    I take it apart to clean it once every 6 months or so, should last a good while but maybe in a few more years I'll look into another

    Wouldn't surprise me if a close to perfect OEM MAF is needed more at altitude, like you and 1997tacomav6, than at sea level.

    HAS to be OEM, what a difference paid 150.00 for it and worth every penny, have new found smooth power, put the OEM one in yesterday's and reset ECU and 200 miles driven today, its like a different power for the good and hit my highest boost too. I went through 3 different MAF with mixed reviews this last month.
    1) eBay looked liked an OEM but was fake, didn’t work so well paid around 20.00
    2) Napa DESNO, made the fuel trims run rich. Paid around 100.00
    3) EBay, DESNO, worked good then fuel trims went bad, Paid around 20.00
    4) OEM from the dealership, fuel trims are great and power is great. Paid 150.00
    OEM is the winner for me.
    And returned all the others.

    Thanks. These trucks are indestructible. They work and continue to work even if something like an MAF says “hey I’m 18 dog years old”. They just run better with new stuff.

    Ok. So here’s the update. I put on the 2.2 pulley. It’s a different truck now. No fuel mods even though I have the methanol kit. The truck doesn’t need any fuel mods based on the dyno. So now I have this methanol kit. After speaking to the shop manager that tunes and drives a sick Chevy and some scary fast vehicles, We are considering a distilled water only injection system with no added fuel for the summer only. This will cool things down and provide denser air. So it will run cooler in the summer. The system can be purged and winterized in the winter. The shop never done that before but there’s a first time for everything. I’m running a 2.2 with 11.5 AFR to 12. It’s spot on. The torque is awesome.

    So what are your thoughts about the 2.1 pulley?
    In the summer maybe?
    Or stay with the 2.2 pulley?

    There is a white lifted 1st gen around town that’s got 33s and something in there. Something fast. I couldn’t keep up with it. Going 100 is t my deal on the freeway. Have you seen him? Front end is an inch higher than rear. Really nice truck.

    Yes, but because of the age and miles there are lots of factors that can change this situation
    from fuel pump health, fuel filter, carbon build up, MAF condition, General engine health etc.
    One thing I’ve learned when running a supercharger on this motor is if there is ONE part
    that’s not working at 100 percent the engine will not perform correctly. It will run but not at its peak.

    Probably the most important thing I’ve leaned over the last 610,000 miles is to keep all the engine electrical sensors OEM in particular.

    MAF, KNOCK SENSOR, 02 SENSORS, ETC.

    While other aftermarket parts will work the OEM part works best.

    I completely agree, even without a supercharger. Electrical and especially electronics need to be OEM or from the company that made the OEM part for Toyota

    So I have a stock air filter in. I also ran the pro dry s air filter for 5000 miles pre supercharger and a little bit after the supercharger. The difference is filtering. I’m leaning towards OEM because the S/C is pulling in crazy air. I can’t feel any difference in performance between the two. Yes I would potentially lose out on some air but it’s filtered better—- protecting the MAF. Anyway, those are my thoughts. That and and the extra noise I don’t want. I gotta have clients in the truck and talk on the phone. (We can hold the phone in our hand in CO:)

    I agree the paper filters are best. I ran a Pro Dry filter for about a year and started noticing it let a fair amount of fine dust through it. The paper filters do a much better job
