What gear ratio are you running? Have you re-geared?

I want to but no. I’m going to smaller lighter tires first. I have some 17” wheels that are 21lbs a piece with 255s might get 265/75s instead though. After that I’d like to get 4:56. 4:88 would be cool to try.

It seems like all this talk about open loop closed loop and when that transition occurs, the impact it has on the way the MP62 behaves with the ECU on the 5VZ-FE is all about the load on the motor and mitigating that impact.

This has a very familiar feel to it. Being NA, this is exactly what many of us were dealing with as our rigs got heavier and our tires got bigger.

Re-gearing changed that playing field dramatically.

yeah. I’m sure tire size and weight play a big role. Maybe even the single biggest issue with people that have pingy motors with the S/C. Everyone looking in the wrong direction for the fix.

The new wheel setup is close to 15lb lighter per corner. And I could even go to a 265/70 which would be 1/2 shorter than the 255s. I’m curious how much difference 1/2” would make weight being the same.

When I bought my truck though it was completely stock minus the supercharger and the closed loop ping was terrible, worse than it is now (though now I have the 7th injector)

That being said I can see how regearing could help now that I do have a bunch of added weight along with the 7th injector...admittedly I hadn't thought of that until now that it was brought up.

I think the big issue early on was not only the closed loop ping but also open loop, though it was still very much an issue in closed loop when it was all stock (supercharger, no lift, no armor, 31s, etc)

Re-gearing is a very expensive fix

Are you still on stock 4.10 gearing?

    @Rldanie
Didnt think of this but like said below maybe his going into boost early when in overdrive is also because of his dam BIG HEAVY rock crawling type tires and rims.
I don’t know but I’m thinking his tires and rims are very very heavy compared to a stock tire and rims. Maybe it’s a combination of thing working here with the smaller pulley (that boosts sooner), in overdrive, that lugs more on a hill), tire size and weight(wheel ratio changed) and running lean in boost (not getting full power).
What size tires and rims and weight are these coming in at each?
Potential combined issues causing the problem,
    1) the larger tire size possibly Affecting the drive train ratio (more power needed)
    2) the added weight of the larger tires and rims per corner. (more power needed)
    3) auto transmission in overdrive causing the engine to lug. (more power needed)
    4) 2” pulley will trip the supercharger into boost sooner under load
    5) MAF is running lean at 14 under boost so engine running short on power
    6) MAF really dirty and 18 years old
    7) All of this potentially will make the truck run hotter too.
    8) An engine that runs lean will raise the engine temperature too ( run hotter)
and Ryan was saying in boost his temperature was going higher to 200 degrees. Out of boost it came down.

So his load is completely different than mine even tho the engine setup is similar with a different end result.

It seems like all this talk about open loop closed loop and when that transition occurs, the impact it has on the way the MP62 behaves with the ECU on the 5VZ-FE is all about the load on the motor and mitigating that impact.

it makes a big difference. Tire size, weight and width. On mine I went from 265 to 245 (skinnier). Easier to roll, better off road. They are 41 pounds which isn’t too bad for an LT tire.

My buddy did his third gen for $2300. The 3rd gen is famous for gear hunting even in stock wheels. Mine did that especially up a hill. It’s geared too tall from the factory. Huge difference for him and more power after re-gear.
