    Wednesday, truck is getting dropped off. Installing the following.

    1-Supercharger
    2- Denso sparks with new wires
    3-AFR Gaige if they can swing it.

    John, where did you have your AFR gauge installed? Anywhere local? Thanks

    By the way, once all this stuff is in, Can you arrange for a test drive together. I need to see what your thoughts are/opinion on noises and knocking or pinging etc.. is that cool? Maybe next weekend or week after? I was gonna run it 500 miles first.

    I recommend taking off your front Cat and taking it somewhere to have someone weld a bung on it. The rest of the install it pretty straight forward.

    Once you install headers, it becomes a more difficult process.

    When you do get headers, you need to weld on another one as the headers for our trucks have some required welding. Mine was welded on from under the truck because I didn’t what to go though the Pain staking process of unbolting my cross pipe..really tight spot.

    Needs to go pre both cats

    That’s the transmission dipstick tube in front of my Thumb

    Our trucks don’t provide a AFR or Boost reading through the ECU to the OBDII as far as I know.

    Hmm. It’s showing numbers LOL. Something like 14.5 AFR in idle and minus something in boost. I’ll test it out and see if it makes any sense.

    Don’t think its accurate in boost.

    I don’t think it reads boost maybe vacuum tho.

    Not sure how accurate these are.

    My scanguage has a bunch of options and I know they are not correct that correct to the same port.

    If your wanting to know 100 percent the correct readings for AFR and boost I would want a dedicated
    gauge specific. Any error with AFR could be a disaster, with boost not so much

    Those are your narrowband AFR numbers which is what the stock ECU reads from your OEM o2 sensors. To properly and accurately monitor your boost AFRs you want a wideband o2 sensor reading from before the catalytic converters which is what the aftermarket AFR gauge/sensor provides.

    Those AFRs from your ECU are helpful in monitoring closed loop AFRs...but what you really want to monitor are your open loop numbers (wide open throttle and high boost) and for that you want the wideband sensor, the ECU won't let you know if it's concerning or not in open loop.

    Basically if you're not boosted then using that AFR reading from your scanner is fine, but if you are boosted then that reading is not sufficient.

    Another good thing to monitor with your scanner are your fuel trims, your ECU will give you a live reading of your short term and long term fuel trims which is another good way to monitor the health of your system.

    Fuel trims should be between -10 and 10, closer to zero the better. If over 10 or less than -10, you have issues that need to be addressed. Such as a vacuum leak or a fuel injector(s) dumping too much fuel, among other possibilities
